The Okinawan Karate Dojo Hosts Superhero Training Day
On July 23rd and August 18th (mark your calendar!), The Okinawan Karate Dojo will host a Superhero Training Day, a community outreach event designed to inspire youth through leadership, teamwork, physical fitness, and emergency preparedness. Soldiers from the 911th Technical Rescue Engineer Company will participate by leading interactive demonstrations and sharing the importance of service, resilience, and working together to overcome challenges.
The events will provide youth participants with an engaging morning of leadership, teamwork, physical fitness, and emergency preparedness through a themed “Superhero Training” experience.
Designed to inspire the next generation of leaders, the program uses the concept of “superhero training” to demonstrate that real heroes are defined by character, courage, selfless service, and a commitment to helping others. Throughout the day, Soldiers will lead interactive activities that reinforce teamwork, communication, resilience, and problem-solving while introducing participants to the mission and capabilities of the Army’s technical rescue community.
The 911th Technical Rescue Engineer Company specializes in technical rescue operations, including rope rescue, confined space rescue, trench rescue, structural collapse response, and disaster operations. Through community engagement events such as this, the unit builds relationships with the communities it serves while promoting leadership, preparedness, and service.
Participants will rotate through a series of “Superhero Training” stations where they will complete team-building challenges, observe technical rescue demonstrations, learn basic emergency preparedness skills, and interact with Soldiers in a safe and educational environment.
“Superheroes aren’t defined by capes or superpowers—they’re defined by integrity, teamwork, and a willingness to serve others. We hope every participant leaves inspired to make a positive difference in their families, schools, and communities.”
The event is free for participating youth and their families.
