One of the most common things we hear from parents is:

“My child loves learning… they just don’t love school.”

And unfortunately, thats not uncommon. Children are naturally curious. They ask questions, build things, experiment, create stories, and explore the world around them. Sometimes the challenge isn’t learning, it's the environment. When they are in an environment that stifles their natural curiosity then their love of learning will also suffer.

At The Dreamers Kingdom, we create opportunities for students to learn through projects, creativity, movement, discussion, and hands-on experiences. Because when learning feels meaningful, curiosity has room to grow.

If your child spends an afternoon building forts, making up stories, creating art, putting on a show, or inventing a game, that isn’t time taken away from learning. That is them learning.

Play and creativity help children learn how to solve problems, think for themselves, communicate ideas, and keep trying when something doesn’t work the first time. Those skills don’t just help in childhood. They’re the skills they’ll use for the rest of their lives.

That’s why I’m such a big believer in protecting time for play, creativity, and imagination. Childhood doesn’t need less of it. It needs so, so much more.

If you’re looking for a place where creativity is part of the learning process, send me a message. I’d love to chat. 💛

Many people think art is something extra.
Something children do after the “real learning” is finished. An enrichment class to serve as a break from learning.

But that’s not true. Art is enriching, but it’s not separate from learning.

Studies have found that creativity helps children develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking, cognitive flexibility, and persistence when facing challenges. These skills are closely connected to academic success across subjects like reading, science, and math.

When a child builds a project, designs a board game, paints a mural, or creates a presentation, they are learning how to think and be creative.

At The Dreamers Kingdom Homeschool, creativity is apart of how we teach academics. Our students regularly:

🎨 Create hands-on projects

💡 Solve real-world problems

🎭 Present their ideas

🛠 Design and build

📚 Bring books and lessons to life

Through art we help them learn how to think critically, solve problems, and develop confidence in their own ideas.

The students who will thrive in the future won’t just be the ones who know the answers. They’ll be the ones who can create new solutions when there isn’t an answer yet. That’s why creativity is such an important part of what we do.

Parents are still worried about socialization when it comes to homeschooling. But I don’t think it’s just socialization, that parents are worried about. Because honestly, kids can be surrounded by other childre wherever you go. Parents want meaningful friendships for their kids. Because meaningful friendships are one of the most important aspects of childhood.

Research shows that childhood friendships help children develop:

💛 Empathy
💛 Cooperation
💛 Emotional regulation
💛 Conflict-resolution skills

Friendships also help children build confidence and develop a stronger sense of identity. In fact, studies have found that children with supportive friendships often experience lower levels of loneliness and anxiety as they grow older.

At The Dreamers Kingdom Homeschool, students:

💛 Work together on projects
💛 Solve problems as teams
💛 Create alongside one another
💛 Learn with students of different ages

The result?

Friendships built on shared experiences, shared values, shared interests, not just shared classrooms.

And here’s something I love from the research, children don’t need a huge group of friends to thrive. Sometimes one close friend who truly understands them can make all the difference.

Finding their community matters.

Our dreamers have become teachers! And I’m so proud of them! Our eco explorers class has wrapped up, but they finished with a huge project. Over the last month, our 3rd to 8th graders researched biomes around the world. After completing their research, they created dioramas to showcase what they learned. Using paint, hot glue, and plenty of Model Magic, they transformed paper boxes into educational displays.

They ended the year by not only demonstrating how much they learned to their parents but also teaching our younger dreamers through presentations on biomes and answering their questions. I’m so proud of our little scientists!

Curious what learning looks like when kids create, present, and share instead of just filling out worksheets? Send us a message to learn more about The Dreamers Kingdom Homeschool or book a discovery day!

Here’s how we support the growth and development of the girls in our program.

Research shows that the pr***en years, ages 9 to 12, are a time when identity, emotional skills, and social connections rapidly shift and form.

During this period, girls thrive most in environments where they feel safe, are supported by caring adults, are connected to positive friendships, and are encouraged to explore who they are becoming.

Here’s how we nurture that growth inside The Dreamers Kingdom Homeschool:

✨ We create a safe, supportive space where every girl feels seen, heard, and valued. Strong relationships and mentorship are among the most important protective factors for healthy development, and we make them a priority. From sitting with our students at lunch to asking them questions about their world, we make sure they know we value their voices.

✨ We intentionally provide opportunities to practice and develop social-emotional skills like confidence, resilience, communication, and emotional awareness so girls can navigate friendships, challenges, and big feelings while learning to trust themselves. They gain genuine friendships with girls who share similar interests.

✨ We give girls meaningful opportunities to lead, create, explore their interests, and discover their unique voice. Research shows that agency, identity development, and genuine engagement help young people flourish in the long term.

✨Bonus way
We let them be themselves and join in on the silly! Whether they come in ready to share a dance they learned, make up a song during break time, or just be genuinely silly, we love that we’ve created a space where the girls in our program can be their unique selves. And they know they can do so in a space that not only allows it but actually encourages it.

This period of girlhood is tender, powerful, and full of possibility.
Our role is to protect it, nurture it, and help each girl grow into the confident, compassionate leader she is meant to become. 💜

If you’re looking for a supportive homeschool community for girls in Howard County, we’d love to welcome you to a Discovery Day. Send us the message girlhood to learn more. ✨

Happy new year! Our dreamer are setting their new years resolutions for 2026! Have you asked your child what they want to accomplish this year? The answers may surprise you. Children have big goals and ambitions just like any person. Ask them what skills they want to learn, hobbies they're interested in, or just things they want to experience.
Listening to children share their dreams reminds us just how capable they already are, especially when they’re supported by a community that values curiosity, creativity, and growth.

So this year don't just set goals and expectations for your child, sit down and create it with them. You might be surprised by what they’re ready to try.
