Back-to-Back WIC Champions!

The Edgewood Colts captured the WIC team championship for the second year in a row, finishing with 266 points.

The Colts put 11 wrestlers in the finals and crowned 6 WIC Champions, showing the strength and depth of the program across the entire lineup.

A big strength for the Colts this year was the middle weights: Zach Silvernail, Bryson Whaley, and Dakota Weaver all finished the regular season undefeated. Zach, Bryson, and Dakota are now back-to-back WIC Champions, a tremendous accomplishment in a very competitive part of the lineup.

One of the most exciting moments of the day came from Mason Forrester (120). Mason entered the tournament as the 4th seed and had lost to the #1 seed twice earlier in the season. With a strong game plan, Mason wrestled smart and aggressive, upset the top seed in the semifinals, and went on to win the WIC Championship.

What makes this group special is the growth and development throughout the program. While some wrestlers like Zach, Bryson, and Dakota have been standouts for years, many others have made huge strides:

Mason didn’t wrestle at WIC last year after missing weight, and this year finished as a champion.

Braylen and Kale were not varsity wrestlers last season and both placed at WIC this year.

Quinn, Cooper P, Blake, and Ja’mai are first-year wrestlers who battled their way onto the podium.

There are many more accomplishments from this group, but we will save those for another day.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who worked the tables and kept the tournament running smoothly.

Colts remained undefeated on the season too. Really proud of this group of kids and the effort this season.

The Colts wrestled this weekend at the Southmont Super 16 and had a great showing — 8 wrestlers reached the finals, finishing the day with 4 champions.

One of the highlights of the day came at 190 lbs, where we had two Edgewood wrestlers meet in the finals — a great example of the depth and competition within our room.

It was a great team effort from top to bottom. The Colts will be back on the road this week against Bedford before finishing the season at home next Saturday at the WIC
