All time school record squat: 240
All time school record deadlift: 320
All time school total: 680

All time 7th grade-top squat: Bentley 280lbs

Top 8th grade pause bench: Kale 185
Top 7th grade pause bench: Mathew 175
Top squat: Micah 320
All time clean: Cooper 192

I wish I had all of their exact lifts recorded-but these will have to do.

EJHS held its 3rd Annual Strongest in the Corral!

We saw tons of PRs, school records broken, and athletes stepping up to challenge themselves under the barbell.

The strength on display was impressive, but even better was the encouragement and support shown between teammates throughout the day.

Three years ago, a group of Edgewood football players came through the program and set a high standard in the weight room. They finished their 7th and 8th grade seasons with a 10-2 record and were one of the most intense, competitive groups we’ve had.

2023 8th Graders

700 Club:

* Anthony – 785
* Dylan – 770
* Cristian – 750
* Trae – 735
* Will – 730
* Carter – 710

800+ Club:

* Eli – 885
* Nolan – 835
* Kaleb – 830
* Jaden – 800

900+ Club:

* Conner H and Darren G– 920!!! *pound for pound two of the strongest kids to come through EJHS

But...the next wave is coming!

Incoming 8th graders to keep an eye on:

* Bentley – 765
* Mathew – 750
* Quinn – 745
* Cooper P – 700
* Owen – 700

For perspective:
When some of the older group were still 7th graders:

* Darren – 745
* Eli – 775

That means we already have FIVE current athletes in the 700 lb club before entering 8th grade.

The older group set the bar high. This younger group is chasing it.

First official practice under Coach True begins Monday, June 8th.
Excited to see what this group can accomplish this season.

Proud of the work these athletes have put in over the last few years in the weight room. The foundation has been built — now it’s time to go compete.

A big shoutout to our 25–26 intern, Isaiah.

Isaiah is a senior and spent the year with us in the afternoons.

From day one, he fit right into the culture of the weight room. He was someone we could trust to step in, coach students, help run groups, and bring good energy every day.

He became an extra set of eyes and an extra voice in the room—helping younger students, reinforcing expectations, and leading by example. The students respected him because he was authentic, encouraging, and consistent in how he carried himself.

Programs are built by people who show up daily and make the environment better, and Isaiah absolutely did that for us this year. We’re thankful for everything he poured into the program and excited to see what’s next for him.
