The Student Press Law Center has a last-minute opening for a paid fall internship in D.C. Details below!

Our top prospect got a full-time job offer, so I have a spot available that I want to fill right now with one of your best and brightest.

The 15-week journalism internship starts the week before or right after Labor Day. The living expense is $7,350 ($490 a week).

It's not a training wheels experience. The office is small and scrappy and interns will immediately be reporting and writing short turns and long form stories, creating podcasts and more They will get to The Washington Post, NPR, Newseum and National Press Club. I'll send them to meet-ups of the D.C. chapters of SPJ, IRE, ONA and other groups.

SPLC humblebrag: All interns in recent years have moved straight into full-time jobs, returned to school as EIC of their campus publication, or gotten into the grad school or law school of choice.

There are a few good openings in the region for you journalism grads! The Yakima Herald-Republic has two openings. (Fluency in Spanish a plus.) You may not have heard, but former Daily Record editor Joanna Markell is now the city editor in Yakima. It's a great place to work and pays well.

Regrettably, we've had to cancel the Observer/Crier Homecoming Breakfast, as we just didn't get enough registrants. Many people expressed interest who didn't wind up registering, so we'd particularly appreciate feedback from those folks as to whether there are changes we could make going forward that might have "converted" you to an attendee. For instance, would a post-game/pre-comedian barbecue be more appealing than breakfast?
