International Overdose Awareness Day is a time to honor those we have lost, support those impacted by overdose, and stand together in hope, healing, and prevention.

Community members are invited to attend a free, family-friendly International Overdose Awareness Day event at Port Angeles City Pier on Monday, August 31, from 6:00โ€“8:00 PM. The event will bring together local medical, behavioral health, and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers to promote connection, remembrance, and community support.

Event Highlights

๐Ÿ’œ Creative art and craft stations for reflection and expression
๐Ÿ’œ Interactive games and activities that foster connection
๐Ÿ’œ Stories from individuals with lived experience of loss and recovery
๐Ÿ’œ Quiet spaces for mindfulness and remembrance

๐Ÿ’œ Raffle baskets with opportunities to earn tickets by participating in activities
๐Ÿ’œ Resources for grief support, behavioral health, recovery, and harm reduction

Do you have a passion for serving Veterans and helping students succeed?

The Central Washington University Veteran & Military-Connected Student Center is seeking a Veterans Outreach Coordinator who is committed to supporting Veterans, military-connected students, and their families from recruitment through graduation.

As the Veterans Outreach Coordinator, you'll serve as a primary point of contact for prospective, newly admitted, and current students by:
โญ Assisting students with navigating and processing their VA Education Benefits
โญ Managing the onboarding experience for new Veteran and military-connected students
โญ Connecting students with campus and community resources that support their academic and personal success
โญ Recruiting prospective students by representing CWU at military installations, community colleges, and high schools
โญ Developing programs and opportunities that enhance student learning, engagement, and success outside the classroom
โญ Supporting the recruitment, retention, and overall success of Veteran and military-connected students and their families

At the Veteran & Military-Connected Student Center, our team is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment where students feel supported, connected, and empowered to achieve their educational goals.

The Columbia Basin Veterans Center, in partnership with 2nd Harvest, is hosting a FREE Mobile Market to help support Veterans, military families, and anyone in the community experiencing food insecurity.

No appointment. No documentation. Just drive through and receive free groceries while supplies last!

The Kittitas Public Health Department Veterans Program is committed to supporting Veteran safety and well-being by providing free pistol gun safes to eligible Veterans residing in Kittitas County.

Secure fi***rm storage is an important step in protecting yourself, your family, and your future. Veterans who meet the qualifications below are encouraged to request a complimentary lock box while supplies last.

Eligibility Requirements:
โ€ข Must be a Veteran residing in Kittitas County
โ€ข Must not have already received a lock box through the Veterans Resource Fair
โ€ข Residential address must be located in Kittitas County
โ€ข Must provide proof of Veteran status (DD214, VA Medical Card, or Driver's License with Veteran designation)

Can pick up lock box form at the Veteran Service Office, 507 N. Nanum Street, Ellensburg.

To request a gun safe, scan the QR code on the flyer and complete the request form.
