It's Wildcat Wednesday! July's is Landen Hashimura🐾

"Looking back at my undergraduate career, coming to CWU was the best decision I could have made. The small class sizes allowed me to build close relationships with the faculty that have pushed me to aim higher and achieve more than I ever thought possible. I have engrossed myself in school activities, holding leadership positions in the Economics Association, Japanese Student Association, and Swim Club. I have been pushed academically, and have grown as a student and a man because of my experiences. I am proud to announce that I was recently accepted into the Cultural Environmental Resource Management (CERM) master's program here at Central, with hopes of conducting research on high-speed railways. CWU has allowed me to live my childhood dreams of studying what I want and has provided me with the resources to succeed."

It's Wildcat Wednesday! June's is 2020 graduate Janice Roman🐾

"My proudest moment at CWU was double specializing, and my Lead Peer Advising role at the CAT Center.

As a first Gen, the greatest challenges is not having or feeling limited of resources first thing when you start school. I felt there wasn’t enough, and I had to search for them on my own most of the time which can feel overwhelming and feel like I was not ready for university. Finding the right fit of interests was also challenging, and committing the time to activities, school, and outside lifestyle is definitely one that was complex to juggle.

The CB resources that have enriched my time at CWU were getting to know my faculty. This actually lead me to the CAT center with my job. It also supported me to find more resources out there that I never knew existed. The more I was discovering what we had at CWU, made me more wanting to share with my peers."

It's Wildcat Wednesday! May's is Miguel Gomez 🐾

"Arriving at Central Washington University last fall was the best decision in my college career. Driving back and forth during the first quarter of attending the university was a hardship. Still, instead of seeing that obstacle as a hardship, it motivated me to work hard to become the first in my family to have a college degree. Thankfully during the winter, a decision was made to move to Ellensburg and take advantage of all tools at central. Throughout my time at the university, I studied and developed under professors like Rob Ogburn and Bill Provaznik, to mention a few.

Furthermore, the goal for this upcoming summer is to acquire an internship in the field of study with the help of Jay Pfeiffer. The application process has been going smoothly. In addition, joining clubs like CWU Beta Alpha Psi Accounting and Fiance Club, Entrepreneurship Club, Supply Chain Management Club, and ALPFA has helped me connect with professionals. In January 2022, four students, including myself, built a three-month business competition and hosted the event in May. The group got sponsored by Centerfuse, which increased the number of people who attended the event, and we are preparing to host it again. "

"As a first generation college student, my proudest accomplishment during my time at CWU was simply having the opportunity to attend college. My time at CWU has been full of up and downs, with the pandemic hitting after I had only been on campus for two quarters. Through perseverance and self-motivation, I was able to stay successful by believing in myself and my ability to work through any problems that came my way.

The biggest influence during my time at CWU has been the College of Business CAT Center, where I have worked since 2021. With no prior experience, the CAT Center hired and took a chance on me, which I am eternally grateful for. As the Front Desk Lead and Peer Advisor, I get to work with students like myself everyday, where I hope my influence makes a positive impact on their lives."
