One of the core goals of the Teach STEM Intern Program is strengthening connections between STEM education and our community. This spring alone, our interns fulfilled 31 outreach requests, bringing hands-on STEM learning experiences to schools, families, and community members across the region.

From delivering engaging planetarium shows and supporting school STEM nights to facilitating activities at the Valley Play Museum and Suncadia SpringFest, our interns helped spark curiosity and inspire future STEM learners. These outreach efforts are an important part of our mission to make STEM accessible, engaging, and impactful for all.

At last week's Celebration of the Sciences, TeachSTEM student, Acacia Brown, received the 2026 Distinguished Student Award for the Science and Mathematics Education department. Acacia is a Secondary Math and STP major, who's been a leader in TeachSTEM club, an intern who supported local robotics clubs and developed a math tutoring program, and also presented at the national UTeach STEM Educators conference! We're so proud of all that Acacia has accomplished!
