Our Mission
It is the mission of the Department of Communication of Central Washington University to prepare students to become active and ethically conscious participants in communication within – and shaping – modern culture. To fulfill its mission, the department emphasizes student-centered instruction in the gathering and dissemination of written, spoken and visual information, as well as a br

oad range of course work in the processes, effects and theories of human communication. The department is committed to a liberal education in written, oral and visual communication, as well as to professional training in the fields of journalism, public relations and advertising.

We are seeking a social media intern to join our department for Fall 2026! Applicants must be eligible to register for 490 credit.

In addition to managing Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts, you will also be asked to produce weekly reports analyzing content and demographic performance. You will then create a social media audit at the end of the term based off those reports. You will work with different tactics to create unique content that furthers your digital media education.

You will work closely with the onsite supervisor to achieve the department’s goals through the actions listed above.

PULSE Winter 2026’s “Boots & Boogie” has been nominated for a Regional Student Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Northwest in the Arts/Entertainment/Cultural Affairs category.
Reporter, Grace Thompson, and videographer, Tyler Diltz’s project is being recognized for excellence in both storytelling and visual production. Even more exciting, Boots & Boogie is one of four CWU student film projects nominated this year!
Winners will be announced on May 29th. Wish them luck!
