Flashback from Spring Quarter!
One thing our detachment loves is a friendly bit of competition. Toilet bowl has long been a way our cadets and army cadets can come together to put our football skills to the test to see who is worthy of the golden toilet bowl. While we share a building, it's not common we can come together for a lighthearted game and get to know each other as we compete! But, of course, there can only be one winner each year.

And, let's just say, it looks real good in our cadre office. We'll see you next year to defend the title

Flashback! Detachment 895 was honored to have high school students come up and get a taste of what our cadets get to do on a daily basis. Cadets paired with in order to bring fun activities such as outdoor games, group leadership projects, and challenging puzzles. With activities both difficult and fun, it's always a treat to have opportunities to share our detachment's culture with these brilliant young minds!

Flag retirement ceremonies are not a way to discard a damaged flag- It's a way to honor the ideals the flag represents and the history of the nation. Our cadets came together, saw a need to retire our detachment's old flag, and acted accordingly to ensure the ceremony was done with the utmost respect all on their own. We are proud of their initiative and dedication to maintaining the values the flag represented through their actions each day.

Well, not all traditions are pretty folks. A handful of our cadets got the chance to participate in the Norweigan Foot March- an 18.6 mile ruck along the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail (formerly the John Wayne trail) with 25 pounds strapped to their back.

This ruck isn't something you can just sign up for on a whim. It takes weeks or months of preperation and a strong resolve to finish it the entire way through. We couldn't be prouder of these cadets for putting on the pack and taking up to the tradition!💪🔥

Detachment 895 was proud to host yet another Joint Force Military Ball. Our cadets worked hard with to bring an enchanting night for our friends and family. With distinguished guests such as our own President of Central Washington University, Dr. Jim Wohlpart, Provost Dr. Patrick Pease and Brigadier General Briar R. Moore. We are incredibly thankful to both of them for sharing their words with our cadets, expressing almost the same level of pride we feel each years as they grow.

Truly a magical night, thank you to everyone who made it possible!

Here at Det 895, we don't believe in just giving rewards. We make our cadets earn them through hard work and tough challenges. Every bit of effort they put into their work is met with a sense of accomplishment that they wouldn't get from outright receiving gifts.

And that's exactly why our OPs team challenged flights to a steep uphill hike along Manastash Ridge to earn their Guidon pendants. Through sweat, tears (of laughter), and determination, our cadets trudged their way to the top and showed us how it's done! Great work, cadets!

Detachment 895 was absolutely honored to get a chance to visit Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Being one of the largest military bases in Washington state, cadets were able to see a variety of different AFSC fields and even get a taste of what they get to do each and every day. We know how easy it can be easy to get lost in the day to day life, so we’re forever grateful of any opportunity that reminds us of everything we’re striving for. Thank you again to the wonderful Officers and Enlisted members who showed us the ropes, we hope to live up to your commitment!

Flashback to when Cadets got the opportunity to hear joint operations advice from our very own Lieutenant Colonel Rah and 's Lieutenant Colonel Kubatzke! A big shout out to both Cadre members for sharing their time and wisdom! Afterwards, Cadets were pushed to their mental limits in a timed, and high stakes GLP to test both their leadership skills, and decision making.

And, of course, a big congratulations for both Cadet Owens and Cadet Williams for winning GMC and POC of the month respectively! 🎉🙌
