Hello, Wildcat parents and support networks!
As promised, we have some updated information to share with you that will help you and your students prepare for the upcoming academic year. Please keep in mind that things change constantly here at CWU as we adjust to best serve our students, so we recommend going directly to the source when you have important questions and/or concerns so that you can get the most accurate and up-to-date information. Those of us who work at CWU and are part of this group try to watch for questions that we can provide answers to as well, but below are some resources for frequently discussed topics/departments on this page.
Orientation:
Orientation is changing! CWU Orientation provides two connection opportunities to incoming students: Admitted Student Days and Week of Welcome. Admitted Student Days are optional activities for admitted students to visit CWU in July. Week of Welcome is a full week of required activities that help you orient to CWU before you start classes. Week of Welcome is September 16th -19th. Details can be found at www.cwu.edu/orientation.
Advising:
Our advising team has seen some changes recently as well. Your student will be assigned an advisor based on their status (new student, declared major, etc.), and that advisor will be their resource for understanding which courses they need to take and when, questions about their major program pathway, and assistance with course scheduling. There may be more than one advisor assigned if the student is in more than one major program. Your student’s assigned advisor(s) and contact information will be listed in their MyCWU account. Housing:
Our housing website provides a significant amount of information regarding life in both our residence halls and apartments. You can find photos and floor plans, information on how roommates work, learn more about our Living Learning Communities, get details about move-in (dates have been set for Fall, Spring and Winter quarters for the upcoming year), and so much more. Visit them at www.cwu.edu/housing, and if you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, their contact information is listed on that page as well.
General:
We understand that sometimes questions or concerns come up and you’re not sure who to ask. For general student issues, we recommend visiting our Student Success website at www.cwu.edu/student-success/. Here you’ll find information about Academic Concerns and Dispute Resolution, our Student Rights and Responsibilities, CWU policies and procedures related to students, Parent and Support Network programs, ways your student can get involved, programs for student development and achievement, and resources for student health and wellness.
