📈 Moving From Developing to Distinguished: Strengthening Tier 1 Instruction in Mathematics! 🧮✨

What happens when teachers, academic coaches, and school leaders come together with a shared purpose? The needle moves!

This professional learning focused on strengthening Tier 1 mathematics instruction by:

🤝 Collaborating with teachers, academic coaches, and leaders/admins to examine instructional practices and build collective capacity.

🎯 Understanding how to move the needle for math students by creating meaningful opportunities for application, reasoning, and understanding the purpose behind the mathematics.

🔎 Strengthening effective instructional practices through the Georgia Standards for Mathematical Practice and identifying what these practices look and sound like in the classroom.

📊 Using data with purpose to identify student needs, determine next steps, and make informed instructional decisions.

📝 Developing a plan for action—because knowing the data is important, but knowing what to do with it is where the real impact happens!

When we intentionally connect data + effective instructional practices + collaboration + purposeful planning, we create stronger Tier 1 instruction and greater opportunities for students to move from Developing to Proficient and beyond.

The CF RESA Math team, along with the School Improvement team, is proud to collaborate with educators and leaders who are committed to moving the needle for every mathematics learner! 💙📚🧮

The Administrative Assistant’s collaborative met yesterday. We were happy to welcome Carolyn Nutt from Sumter County School district and her presentation on “School Scheduling and Report Mastery Through Infinite Campus”. Ms. Nutt’s knowledge in this area is so important to the behind the scenes work in districts. In addition we welcomed Dougherty County School district’s Dr. Lakeisha Carter and her presentation on “School Level Reporting” which emphasized the importance of knowing and responding to ensure districts have accurate data. Thank you to both ladies for their willingness to share their expertise.

Closing out September with the Georgia Numeracy Project!

Our Math Team wrapped up an incredible month of professional learning by engaging in the Georgia Numeracy Project, continuing our commitment to strengthening numeracy and mathematics instruction across the CF-RESA region.

We are especially proud of our teachers and teacher leaders who continue to grow their practice, collaborate with colleagues, and lead the way in creating meaningful mathematical learning experiences for students. Their dedication and commitment to our students make this work so meaningful!

LAPP Tier I welcomed Julie Childers as she shared her expertise in all things “FTE & CPI”. The afternoon session was led by our very own CFRESA Regional Literacy Coach on the”Science of Reading for Administrators “. Both sessions gave candidates new or revised content knowledge on two important topics for school and district leaders.

📚✨ September has been full of learning, collaboration, and a whole lot of mathematics!

We had the opportunity to work with K–12 educators through two engaging professional learning experiences:
🔢 Number Talks — building mathematical thinking, reasoning, communication, and confidence through meaningful conversations around mathematics.

🙌🧠 From Hands-On Math to Minds Blown Math ; Exploring how intentional use of manipulatives and hands-on experiences can move students beyond “doing math” to truly understanding math.
We are so thankful for the amazing educators who showed up ready to learn, collaborate, and take new ideas back to their classrooms.

The math team was proud to partner with the Learners Advantage team—Heather, Amy, and Carole Tilley—along with our School Improvement Team, to bring this valuable professional learning opportunity to teachers and leaders throughout the CF-RESA region. We are grateful for the collaboration and shared commitment to strengthening teaching and learning across our schools.

When teachers are equipped with effective strategies and meaningful tools, students get more opportunities to become confident, capable mathematical thinkers.
Here’s to continuing to grow, learn, and make an impact one mathematical mind at a time! 💙➕🧠
