🌎♻️ Learning, Creating, and Making a Difference in STEAM! ♻️🌎
Our third graders recently participated in an interdisciplinary lesson in the STEAM Lab centered around the book One Plastic Bag. Students explored the problem of plastic pollution and discussed ways we can all help protect our environment through the 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
After learning about the impact of plastic bags on our environment, students put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work by turning plastic bags into their own braided bracelets! 🛍️➡️📿
This hands-on experience allowed students to connect literacy, science, environmental awareness, creativity, and engineering while discovering that something we often consider trash can be given a new purpose.
We love seeing our Wildcats learn with purpose, think creatively, and find ways to make a difference! 🐾💚🌎

This week, our first graders rotated among classrooms to explore different books and enjoy related projects! Miss Skipper shared a Berenstain Bears book, "The Prize Pumpkin". Mrs. Wyrick read a spider poem...Students worked on creating their own watercolor artwork, including pumpkins and spiders/spider webs! We even got in some extra outdoor fun! Our Pre-K kiddos have been exploring all things apples! 🍎🍏 They learned about the parts of an apple, tasted red, green, and yellow apples, and graphed their favorites. Red apples took the top spot, with the most votes from our little taste testers! We love our little taste testers!

SCHS Varsity Football's next home game is Oct. 23rd against Taylor County. This is a BIG game! Join us for Senior Night and show your pride by wearing all silver to school & the game. The Spirit Store will be open Friday morning, October 23rd, for 2nd-5th graders to shop. There are NEW items for sale including metallic sunglasses, metallic pom poms, metallic/silver tattoos, and silver/gray paw print bracelets.

PreK - 1st graders will PRESHOP Spirit Store. There spirit store preorder forms should have been sent home today. See pic of order form. Fill in all details on form and return (in a Ziploc bag) with correct change/cash. All preorders are due Wednesday, 10/21. Orders will be filled & given to HR teachers by Thursday, 10/22.

In celebration of Georgia Pre-K Week, our Pre-K students had the privilege of welcoming some of our cheerleaders and football players as guest readers! They shared Every Amazing Song, a book written by Malcolm Mitchell, Super Bowl champ and former UGA football player, and Coy Bowles, guitarist for the Zac Brown Band.

Each student received a copy of the book to take home and enjoy with their family. Thank you to Kate, Sterling, Landon, Brynley, and Jordynn for sharing your time and love of reading with our youngest Wildcats!
