Here’s a couple new projects we hope to be putting up for sale this fall. The top flag is a maple base with blue and red epoxy, measuring 16”x30”
The waving flag is cherry with blue and white epoxy. We’re going to wait a week or 2 before polyurethaning to get the cherry to redden up some more

Herbert Hoover now has a kiosk to display the history of the school and the Elk River Community. Today I presented the school with funding from LEDA grants to go towards the kiosk. The next time you are at Herbert Hoover stop and check out the kiosk

After a bunch of work, Austin Taylor of AT Woodwork finished the sign. When you look at the sign, it looks like a difficult project and a lot of work. Having been to his shop and watch the process, it was every bit of that and more. Great job Austin!

Here’s a follow up from yesterday’s post. Austin assembled and began to apply the finish to the product. The sign is 42” in diameter with the disk being solid walnut with the maple lettering semi inlayed into the walnut disk.

Huge thank you to Delegate Dean Jeffries for getting the shop money to repair a piece of equipment that’s been down for a year and a half now. I greatly appreciate your never ending commitment and support for the education of the students within our community!

The Shop at Herbert Hoover is such an awesome program that provides great opportunities to our kids. I am pleased to present Tim Myer with LEDA funds for equipment needed for the class.

I dropped in to see Austin Taylor, owner of AT Woodwork at his new shop in Elk City. Austin is a 2026 graduate of Herbert Hoover, but instead of celebrating his graduation all summer, Austin continued what he’s been doing for several years. He’s working to make his business into one of the top woodworking companies in WV. Austin has always been meticulous in his work, which is shown in the high quality products he makes.
