Superdojo

Superdojo Studies show that confident social skills is the #1 drug abuse prevention method.

Our goal is to reduce violence and drug abuse in our community using martial arts and self defense classes (kids 3+ and adults) that apply social and emotional learning in effective ways. ❤️ Superdojo is made up of a team of positive martial arts instructors who take action to affect a child's confidence, discipline, and self-esteem for the better in order to prevent future violence and drug abuse

in our community. In addition our theory is that proper emotional understanding and self-awareness can also prevent violence and help people make better decisions. Since we are so good at teaching martial arts that it has become almost effortless to create champions, we've combined our martial arts drills with games and challenges that help kids learn how to be a good person, take care of their teammates, and be assertive and set boundaries.

Fun Friday today! We have day camp today, a full week of summer camp next week and then after that, the last fun Friday of the summer!

During camps, we’re doing Superdojo training (this month is self defense and board smashing) and a ton of fun team building games and crafts.

Lately camp has been mostly Superdojo girl athletes and they’re always playing pranks on me! From putting toy fake cockroaches in surprising places for me to find to yaassifying me on coloring book pages… I think I’ve got the “Blanch from Golden Girls” vibe on this one.

Day camps are $65 for the day and next week’s camp is $275. Use this link to lock in your spot for $15. If you can’t pay all at once, we’ll work it out 😉 https://sparkpages.io/?i=_YQ4b

Rebuilding Superdojo, video 11, part 3. This is the last one! We’re back, baby!

08/12/2026

We gotta get everything put back and there’s only 6 hours to go! It’s on!! This video was back on July 1, we’re opened up and busy right now- we have about 10 new members starting per week! Superdojo.org

We do testing every month!

Most martial arts schools have long, 6 hour tests every few months with stripe testings in between.

This is a little bit projection, I have to be honest, because we used to do this because it’s an industry standard… and there are instructors who will read this and say, the most common thing said by any martial arts instructor…

It’s not “punch,” it’s not “kick,” it’s “that’s not how I do it at my school!” 😂😂😂

Anyway, the stripe testings are usually “when they’re ready.” What happens here is some kids get left behind because once stripe testing is over, it’s not the primary focus in learning - it’s just practice and on to the next thing.

So what happens right before those quarterly big tests, it’s crunch time and kids either get all their stripes at the once at the last minute or they don’t get stripes at all and have to wait another 3 months and start again. Then don’t even get me started with rotating curriculum, which means those students will skip that curriculum and they won’t see it again for a long time.

EVERY MONTH, we do a stripe testing which EQUALS the big tests that other martial arts schools do, divided into 3. So instead of 6 hours, each test is 30-45 minutes.

Wam, bam, thank you ma’am.

And you know what’s crazy, there is literally ZERO change in quality of Superdojo students compared to schools with the same population that have crazy strict tests.

I just teach them really, really well.

You could even say I’m the best… but you said that, not me.

Every other month, it’s a different KIND of test. This month, it’s the vigorous challenge. A rigorous workout involving fitness, self-defense, and board breaking. I love board breaking with self defense because self defense is “protecting yourself with the least amount of strikes necessary” and board breaking is “destroy the board in one hit.” See the similarity?

Next month is THE BIG EVENT. This is all about conditioning where students learn new techniques and combos and then are challenged to get the highest score possible in the challenge. It’s like a tournament!

There’s no need to reinvent the wheel, I have to say, but the way I do it takes the old wagon wheel and replaces it with a lightweight race car tire. So much more fun and efficient!

Today is July 1! And it’s the first day of classes back at Superdojo and it’s CRUNCH TIME! We have 6 hours to stock up and prepare before students start showing up!

08/10/2026

In this video, we had one week to go before our deadline of re-opening on July 1! I know it’s August 10 right now but June & July were crazy and I just finished editing! There are 3 videos left in the Rebuilding Superdojo! Series! Stay tuned for the last part - the first classes back in the dojo!

We finally get the ceiling tiles, start getting replacement electronics like water cooler, cleaning all the fan blades.

07/16/2026

We’re still working on Superdojo, cleaning and doing some touch ups before the insulation and the ceiling tiles are installed. We’re closer to our deadline of July 1 and cutting it close!

🚨 I NEVER DO THIS 🚨
🥳 …But I’m doing it! 🥳

The last 5 months have been brutal. We have been stuck training on zoom, at different public schools, and in the park. Our training environment hasn’t been the best and the times were all changed up and wonky… BUT WE’RE BACK!!

So I need your help!

I never ever do this, but I’m doing it now because we gotta get our classes full again so our athletes have a ton of different partners, can make diverse friends, and most importantly: we can share all the positive benefits of our program with the community.

Every family that trained with me over the last 5 months will get a 30-day membership they can GIFT to one of their friends of any age group to train with them. This thing has BIG value because I know whoever comes in and does class for a month will STICK with it! They just gotta try!

Most martial arts schools, industry standard, average amount of time kids stick with it:
FOUR MONTHS

Superdojo? 24 MONTHS!

I have an envelope each of the 165 members that stuck with it this spring. My goal is to get our membership number to 250 by the end of the year so our classes are even more action packed and awesome!

Who do you think you’re gonna give your’s to? Tag them in the comments or even better - let me know what your kids have gotten out of classes with us! I wanna know!
