For the past two years, Mrs.Gibson has been awarded grants by the Rockingham Educational Foundation Inc. This organization is an incredible resource for RCPS teachers for grants, supplies, and more. Attached to this post are photos from both grants Mrs.Gibson was awarded and photos of completed dioramas (miniature versions of places) using REFI’s teacher depot’s free supplies.

EMS and Mrs.Gibson cannot thank REFI enough for the support they give not only the arts, but to teachers in RCPS. They are an incredible resource!

6th grade watercolor landscapes done by the funds from “Watercolor in the Wild” awarded for the 24-25 school year.

If you feel moved to help donate to grants like this, especially for the arts, the link below will take you to the Endowment fund for REFI. This fund is a 3 year plan that gives funds directly to the RCPS arts programs.

In the beginning of May, our 7th grade students from Fall Semester had a vertical art show with EES, MES, RBES, SRES, and ERHS. EMS was the second art of the three stages of the “Metamorphosis” project.

Pictured are the elementary schoolers set on the left, EMS Art in the middle, and ERHS Art on the right.

Thank you for having such creative kiddos!

7th grade 3D classes and all 3 8th grade classes spent the first quarter of this past semester creating coil bowls and slab mugs! They were to create coiled patterns on their mugs and add a face, animal, etc to their mugs.

Once we finished, we celebrated with two different parties the kids voted on.
1. Ice cream and milk and cookies
2. Mac and cheese with sweet tea and kool aid

Enjoy our pics!

Good afternoon!
This Friday, the 8th, 7th, and 6th grade classes will be participating in a gingerbread house construction competition. I am asking for donations of gingerbread house kits if possible! Each table will be creating a gingerbread house and I have 6 tables per class. That adds up to 18 gingerbread house kits OR graham crackers, candy, icing, etc to use as a DIY kit. Specifics below:

18 gingerbread house kits
OR
9 boxes of graham crackers
3 bags of Mnms
Candy canes
3 bags Gum drops
9 tubs of icing

If you feel so moved to help us out in this art challenge, you may contact myself, Mrs.Gibson directly at [email protected] or message her on Rooms (Thrillshare)! We don't need anything extravagant, just normal kits will do (:

Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season of joy and blessings!

Last week 7th grade students finished up their Peace Posters with the theme “Peace Without Limits.” Students worked on their largest paper size 13”x20” and were challenged with leaving only intentional white space. A huge thank you to the Elkton Lions Club as they sponser this contest and reward the top 3 students with a cash prize! Students learned that you can make money with their artwork and worked extra hard on these posters. I am incredibly proud of my 38 7th graders who completed these posters and challenged their creativity!

Congratulations to our top 3 winners!

1st : Jadynn Chase
2nd : Emily Stauffer
3rd : Aspin Gray
