410-392-0929. Marques Ceasar-Lopez; Lessons available Thursdays!
I discovered my love for music growing up in Colorado. From a young age, I sang at school, church, and family events until I found my passion for brass instruments. I began playing the trumpet in fourth grade and transitioned to the tuba in seventh grade—a decision that truly cemented my connection to music.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Music from Montana State University in Bozeman, where I studied under Dr. Jeannie Little. Her mentorship laid a strong foundation for my performance skills and artistic growth. During my time there, I founded the Bridger Brass Quintet, a five-piece ensemble that has received multiple awards, toured nationally, and helped establish a lasting legacy of brass chamber music at MSU, thanks in part to the leadership of Dr. Sarah Stoneback.
In the summer of 2020, I moved to Baltimore to pursue a Master’s degree in Tuba Performance at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where I studied with Velvet Brown. There, I met my current colleagues in Cortina Brass and began developing musical partnerships and community-based projects throughout Baltimore and the East Coast.
