This morning, CCPS participated in its third statewide school-based incident tabletop exercise of the year, facilitated by the Maryland Center for School Safety (MCSS).

This discussion-based training brought together school officials and representatives from multiple emergency response agencies to test and refine our coordination. By working through these simulated scenarios, we ensure that our teams are prepared, aligned, and ready to protect our students and staff. Today’s exercise reflects our ongoing, coordinated commitment to school safety across Cecil County.

Last night, our Teacher of the Year, K. Nicole Walker (Elkton High School), attended the Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala at Martin's Valley Mansion. It was a wonderful evening celebrating Ms. Walker and other top Maryland teachers. We are so proud of Ms. Walker for representing our district and for her incredible dedication to our students. Her passion for teaching and commitment to student success inspire us all. We also want to congratulate Michael James, an English teacher at North Harford High School in Harford County, who was named the 2027 Maryland Teacher of the Year.
