Great Basin College in partnership with the Nevada Department of Education are pleased to once again offer the Teach Nevada Scholarship to current and future students pursuing their degree in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Early Childhood Education (licensing route), or the Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL) routes. The scholarship covers 100% of tuition, fees, and textbooks. 75% of this total will be reimbursed to the student during the 2024-25 academic year. 25% will be reimbursed to students after successfully (Effective or Highly Effective NEPF ratings) completing 5 years of teaching in a Nevada public school. So very proud of one of our Fall 2023 student teaching interns in Smith Valley, NV who's Ag program was featured in the Nevada Independent. We love seeing the passion of our interns in action, inspiring students. Well done Brittany!

Lyon County student-run turkey farm serving up lessons on business, agriculture skills - The Nevada Independent Eighth grader Mackenzie Harper hadn’t realized all the work that goes into turkey production. But on Monday, she and other students at Smith Valley School got to experience the process.
