The countdown to a new school year has begun. In just a couple of weeks, school zones will be busy, crosswalks will be full, and children will once again be walking, biking, and riding the bus each day.

Now is the perfect time to refresh safe driving habits. Slow down in school zones, stay alert for crossing guards, avoid distractions behind the wheel, and always be prepared to stop for children who may cross unexpectedly. Those extra moments of patience can make a life saving difference.

Parents can help by reviewing safe walking routes with their children, reminding them to use crosswalks, and encouraging them to stay aware of traffic instead of focusing on phones or other distractions.
