📚 PARENT ACADEMY IS NEXT WEEK!

We are excited to kick off our first NCAE Parent Academy on Wednesday, September 23 from 4:00–5:30 p.m.!

And remember — childcare is available! 💚

We heard from families last year that childcare was one of the barriers to attending Parent Academy, so this year Roar & Explore will be available during every Parent Academy session.

Choose the option that works for your family:

• Full Year Childcare — $200
Covers childcare for all 9 Parent Academy sessions — just over $22 per session!

• Individual Sessions — $25 each
Not sure you can attend all nine? No problem! You can register for childcare only for the Parent Academy sessions you plan to attend.

• Two Childcare Scholarships Available
If the cost of childcare would prevent you from participating, we encourage you to apply for one of our two Parent Academy childcare scholarships.

💚 THANKFUL THURSDAY 💚

This Thursday, we want to recognize some pretty special people in our school — our RBTs and volunteers who continually go above and beyond.

Sometimes it's helping in the lunchroom.
Sometimes it's lending an extra hand to build our library.
Sometimes it's staying a little longer, jumping in when something needs to be done, or simply asking, “How can I help?”

These things may seem small in the moment, but we want you to know...

We see you. 💚

We see the extra time. We see the helping hands. We see you stepping in wherever you're needed. And we see the care you show our students, our teachers, and our school.

Those little extras add up to something pretty BIG — and they help make NCAE Elko the community that it is.

✨ WONDER WEDNESDAY ✨

What does Mother Goose have to do with classical education?

Quite a bit, actually!

Classical education values giving children things worth remembering — poems, rhymes, stories, songs, historical facts, and beautiful language that become part of the knowledge they carry with them.

Think of the old Mother Goose rhymes. For generations, children learned them by heart. Their rhythm, rhyme, repetition, and playful language made them easy to remember — while introducing children to vocabulary, patterns of language, storytelling, and a shared literary tradition.

That's one reason memorization and recitation still have an important place in classical education.

We aren't asking students to memorize simply for the sake of repeating information. We're helping them fill their minds with knowledge, language, stories, and ideas they can draw upon later.

The things children learn by heart today become part of what they have available to connect, question, understand, and think about tomorrow.

Sometimes, cultivating wonder begins with something as simple as...

Did you know your student doesn't have to attend Roar & Explore every day?

Maybe they LOVE science. 🔬
Maybe math games are their thing. ➕

Or maybe they just want an extra afternoon to create, play and hang out with friends!

With our Scheduled Drop-In option for just $25/day, families can choose the days that work for them — or the days their student thinks sound the most FUN!

🧥💚 NEXT WEEK’S DRESS CODE FOCUS: OUTERWEAR!

The mornings are getting cooler, which makes this the perfect time for our next Dress Code Focus of the Week!

This week we’re talking about what students can wear to stay warm INSIDE the school.

One easy rule to remember:

💚 ALL SCHOOL OUTERWEAR IS GREEN! 💚

Students have several options for staying warm while still meeting uniform expectations:

CARDIGANS & VESTS
💚 Solid hunter green
💚 Must have the NCAE school crest
💚 A green or navy polo is worn underneath

JACKETS
💚 Solid hunter green
💚 Must have the NCAE school crest
💚 No hoods
💚 No sweatshirts

🛍️ NEED OUTERWEAR? WE CAN HELP!

This year, families who need a cardigan, vest, or jacket may purchase a solid hunter green item and bring it to NCAE — we'll take care of having the school crest embroidered on it!

We've included a couple of examples of items we've found online to give you an idea of what to look for. French Toast, Classroom, and Harriton are also good brands to check for hunter green school-uniform pieces.

You do not have to purchase a particular brand or from a particular store. Just make sure it meets the requirements above.

🔎 Not sure before you buy? Send us a picture! We're happy to take a look and let you know if the item will work.

And remember — students CAN wear their regular winter coats and jackets to and from school and at recess. These requirements apply to outerwear worn inside the school during the school day.

💚 THANKFUL THURSDAY! 💚

This week, we are incredibly thankful to Elko County and the grant funding they provided to help us give our playground a much-needed refresh! 🎉

Thanks to this support, we've been able to install new turf, and we're getting new sealant on our blacktop too!

These updates are making such a difference in our outdoor space — it looks fresh, updated, and ready for lots of playing, running, laughing, and making memories.

And the best part?

OUR STUDENTS LOVE IT! 💚💙

We are so grateful for community partners who invest in our school and, most importantly, in the spaces our students enjoy every single day.

Thank you, Elko County, for helping us make our playground a better place for our students!

✨ WONDER WEDNESDAY ✨

Last week, we talked about what classical education means. This week, let's look at three little words you may hear often in classical education:

Truth. Goodness. Beauty.

Classical education isn't only about filling students with information. We want children to learn to recognize what is true, choose what is good, and appreciate what is beautiful.

📖 Truth — We encourage students to seek knowledge, ask thoughtful questions, and understand the world around them.

💚 Goodness — Through character and virtue, students learn that how we live and treat others matters.

🏛️ Beauty — Great literature, art, music, nature, and even a beautifully solved math problem help children recognize order, creativity, and excellence.

These ideas aren't separate from academics — they're woven into the way students read, think, discuss, create, and grow.

That's another little glimpse into what we mean when we say we're Cultivating Wonder. ✨
