The Latest at D&E Security:
In the past 4 months all Security Officers attended 9 security training; all of National Standards. The Security Officers are now operation under 5 Standard Operating Practices; all of National Standards.

D&E Security Officers will soon initiate our “Open Door” program:
(A Note from the Director) in most campuses around the country, one of the largest issues facing the campus community is theft. The sad fact is most of the thefts could have been prevented. Thefts most likely occur when areas are left open and unattended.
The “Open Door” program is a crime prevention tool used to remind occupants to close/lock their doors when not in use. It takes a community effort to prevent crime.

· D&E Security Officers On The Job
Security Officers primary perform two types of calls: Service Call and Reportable Incidents. An example of a service call can be described as a call requesting us to open or lock a door, provide an es**rt, etc. An example of a reportable call can be described as fire alarm, safety maintenance condition, etc.
Oct: 1,004 Service Calls 14 Reportable Incidents
Nov: 1182 Service Calls 47 Reportable Incidents
Dec: 1304 Service Calls 36 Reportable Incidents
Jan: 783 Service Calls 46 Reportable Incidents
Safety Tips:
Secure offices, vehicles, and dormitory rooms.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Walk in groups or pairs
Walk in well-lit areas
Secure you belongings
The Office is responsible for the safety and security of the campus 24 hours a day every day of the year.
