We are so pleased and honored to now have a memory bench in honor of Kassen Lloyd, a member of our first graduating class in 1997. After graduation from HAS, Kass pursued higher education into college and post-graduate work, until his unexpected and untimely passing in 2013. He is much missed. Kass's family, HAS staff members from his years at the school, and alumni who knew him gathered to dedicate the bench in his honor. It will get lots of use by our school family. Pictured are family, friends, and school staff from Kass's years at the school. Despite cold and damp, we had a fabulous end of year water fight on the last day of school. You should have been there!!

We are proud of our 2026 high school graduate. Caden Rowan has been a student at H.A.S. since 4th grade and is a friend to all. We appreciate all he has added to our school program and pray for his success as he launches into adulthood!

Important Information: The deadline for applying for a 100% WV HOPE Scholarship is Monday, June 15. If you are a WV resident and are planning to use the scholarship for the 2026-2027 school year, you need to get your application in by June 15. After that the amount the scholarship will provide goes down. You can apply at https://hopescholarshipwv.gov/.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening of music (HAS orchestra and choir), great food, kindergarten graduation, and the giving of awards to all of our students. We believe that every student has gifts and we recognize and appreciate them. So every one of our students are recognized for his or her unique contribution to our school. Then we capped off the evening with presentation of academic honor roll to the group of students shown here. We are so proud of all of our students!

Our walkathon was a big success. Raised a lot of funds for recess/sport equipment, field trips and more. We appreciate everyone who donated. Our top mileage covered during the 2 hour event was 12 miles run by one of our 9th grade boys. Impressive! Thanks everyone. Was great fun!
P.S. The group brought in over $5000 in fundraising and walked over 150 miles during the 2 hour event! Way to go kids!!

Our Muddy Boots students worked with Ms. Liz in the greenhouse the last month of school. They did a fabulous job and the greenhouse looks great! Thanks Ms. Liz and kids!

We had an awesome trip to Hovatter's Zoo in Kingwood. This little, rural zoo had a wide variety of animals and we were allowed to feed a lot of them which was really, really fun! It was well worth the trip.
