Required: All artwork intended to hang on our gallery walls, will require a wire hanging device, professional framing, and plexiglass is preferred for work exceeding 36 in. Canvas work should have clean finished edges. No frame is required for canvas. 3D art should not exceed 50 lbs.

"Begin Anyhow"-Lisa Congdon
Proud teacher moment. A student pulled me aside to tell me she took action to begin her art career. She created an Instagram account to promote her art because of the Lisa Congdon interview we watched in class and my lecture. Lisa said "Begin Anyhow." Don't find excuses to not do something you want to do. Nothing will ever be perfect, just begin anyhow.

If you don't know about Lisa's work, just Google her. I know you will love her work.

Proud Teacher Moment:
This year students learned about artist James Norbury and his book Big Panda and Tiny Dragon. His work is on the walls in the art room. Sometimes we use his book for inspiration for Daily Doodles. 7th grade and 8th grade students are learning how to use a Chinese Calligraphy brush based on his illustrations. Today someone surprised me! She bought and brought in her very own Big Panda and Tiny Dragon book. I am impressed. I hope this book keeps inspiring her to keep creating.

We have BASKETS!!! 6th, 7th and 8th grade art students made baskets out of pipe cleaners and paper. You might think it was easy. Let me tell you, it is not. Pipe cleaner baskets are as hard as making a basket out of wood. These kids struggled and persevered. They learned about historic WV baskets and native American basket making. They researched historic baskets from different regions and put together presentations. They lived in a basket world for a few weeks and these are some of their results. (The last few pictures are of students who got ambitious and made baskets at home.)
