The halls were filled with hugs, cheers and applause as the Myers community welcomed the class of 2026 home! After the seniors walked the halls of Myers one last time, the entire school gathered in the gym to celebrate as one. Seniors shared their favorite memory of Myers and plans after graduation. To mark their last time in Myers as Cheltenham students, it was only fitting to end with the seniors and current students singing the Myers school song together! Class of 2026, as a song taught you, Myers is your school and always be the best you can be! Check out the full photo album by clicking the link https://photos.app.goo.gl/DKVK6hn5g7D9EVsz7

Today’s Super Bowl began with the national anthem, followed by the ceremonial first toss of the football by Principal Lytle and introductions of the players. In the first game, the Bears and the Lions tied at 63 points each. Halftime festivities included a performance by the Myers Cheerleaders and a ceremony in which Mr. Schmidt was presented with a gold jacket and a commemorative football. All students, past and present, who were either taught by Mr. Schmidt or participated in the football program over the years were invited to join him on the field. There were former students in attendance who are now in high school, as well as some who had moved out of the district but returned to be part of this special day honoring Mr. Schmidt.

In the second game, the Jets defeated the Colts, 56–42. After the games, Principal Lytle renamed the field “Schmidt Field.” The legacy of Mr. Schmidt was on full display today, as evidenced by the number of former students and parents who came to celebrate him as he begins his retirement. His kindness and dedication to students will forever live on at Myers Elementary. Check out all the photos here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/GGRKHc8hebqNtxmD6

The votes are in! Last month, Myers students participated in their annual schoolwide Mock Caldecott unit. The entire school read four new picture books in library classes after learning about criteria for the book award. Carefully selected by Ms. McKeon and Mrs. Hazlewood, the books were chosen for their skillful artwork, visual storytelling, and (most importantly!) their appeal to children. With 126 student votes, the winning book was Don't Trust Fish by Neil Sharpson and illustrated by Dan Santat. Runners up were Cranky, Crabby, Crow (Saves the World) by Corey R. Tabor, Broken by X. Fang, and Every Monday Mabel Jashar Awan. You can find these books at both the Myers Elementary School and Cheltenham Township libraries!
