Juneteenth marks a pivotal moment in American history—the day when the last enslaved people were freed. At Cheltenham School District, we encourage our students and families to learn, reflect, and engage in conversations about freedom, equity, and justice. Together, we build a brighter tomorrow.

2026 06 16 Educational Affairs Committee Meeting 06/18/2026

Educational Affairs – June 2026

Co-chaired by Dr. Ross Whiting, the Educational Affairs Committee convened on Tuesday, June 16, at the Administration Building and via Zoom. The meeting had one agenda item: the 2026-2031 draft strategic plan. The plan centers on five core pillars: excellence in teaching and learning; holistic social, emotional, and mental well-being; nurturing climate and culture; strategic communications; and effective operations, including premier facilities, fiscal stability, and sustainability. During the meeting, administrators serving as pillar leads guided the board through the plan, detailing specific goals and action items, and named affirmations, tensions, and potential metrics and stories. Next steps in bringing the plan to life include administrators pressure-testing the action plans to ensure alignment; revising the draft goals into a SMART format with measurable success indicators; and potentially convening the steering committee for further review this summer. The final five-year strategic plan will be presented to the CSD Board of School Directors this fall. The next Educational Affairs meeting is in September.
