Children can develop the ability to sing in tune and keep an accurate beat most easily during the birth-to-preschool years. However, they need a rich environment full of opportunities to explore and create musically with you, their most important musical model! Establishing a lullaby routine is a great way to begin incorporating music into your family’s daily life! If you’re not sure what to sing or how to begin we can help! Did you know our Mixed Ages classes are appropriate for children from birth to age five? Because children learn best through play, we use developmentally appropriate instruments and activities, allowing children to experiment and take it all in, as we play musically with them! Did you know…there are two “systems” involved with being a music-maker? Reception is related to thinking musically or hearing, sensing and processing the music we hear. Expression is related to the physical act of making music, or singing, moving, and producing music. We often remind families that when you enthusiastically sing, dance, and play music your little one is soaking up all of that fun music-making (reception) and will want to sing, move and play musically too (expression).
