When love becomes control, trafficking may be closer than you think.

Domestic violence and human trafficking can overlap when an intimate partner uses coercive control to exploit someone. Financial control, isolation, threats, and restricting access to documents or transportation can limit a person’s ability to leave.

Parental Advisory: As technology evolves rapidly, the risks for both children and parents are increasing. From cyberbullying and online scams to digitally altered images and recordings known as deepfakes, it is essential to communicate openly with your children to help ensure they do not fall victim to these threats. The consequences can be devastating.

What parents should know:
*Talk with children about online safety and photo risks
*Encourage them never to create or share explicit images
*Report concerns to a trusted adult immediately

Under the Take It Down Act, platforms must remove explicit images of minors, including deepfakes, within 48 hours.

This is happening in our own backyard. Online enticement is up 300% since 2023. Talk to your kids about this. Be a safe place for them to come to you when they are asked to share n**e photos of themselves. They will be asked at some point, teach them how to respond. The answer is always no. One of the best parts of National Night Out - Walworth County is that we encourage the kids to fill out a kindness matters sheet and tell us (write if possible) one thing that they did for someone else in the past week. 😎 We encourage them to think outside of themselves and know how important their act of kindness impacts the person receiving it. We brought about 200 sheets with us and they were filled out in about an hour! ❤️ we then put them up on the bulletin boards outside our offices. 😁 after they fill out the sheet they can pick out a rubber duck (or a squishy) and a piece of candy! 😎 sometimes Mom or we help them out with the writing if needed…We love this project so much! On dark days it’s definitely a ray of sunshine! ☀️here are a few that brought a smile to my face this morning…😊

We love Safe Families!! They are making such an impact in our communities!

When a young mother delivered her baby while incarcerated last August, the question wasn't just who would care for her son. It was whether they'd still be connected when she came home.

Safe Families for Children - Racine and Kenosha Metro answered both.

Volunteers hosted the baby for eight months, bringing him in for weekly visits so mother and son never lost their bond. They picked up breastmilk so she could continue to nurse. They built a friendship with her through those visits - not as case workers, but as neighbors who showed up and kept showing up.

When she was released in April, she didn't have to wait months to be reunited with her child. She picked up her son immediately - and walked into a community that was already there. People who are helping her find work, encouraging her sobriety, and walking beside her as she builds the life she's determined to give her son.

Without Safe Families, this baby would have entered foster care, and reunification could have taken years. Instead, a circle of volunteers kept a family together.
