🛶 Survival Day 2026 🎣

One of the most beloved end-of-year traditions at Spirit and Grace Academy took place this month, Survival Day! Students spent the day outdoors putting teamwork, creativity, perseverance, and practical skills to the test through activities like:

• Geocaching
• Fishing
• Building boats to carry a flag across the water
• Constructing bridges from wood, with no nails
• Creating SOS rescue signals using only a whistle and magnifying glass

According to Burke Newell, a member of this year’s 1st place team, their success came down to this: 𝙒𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙, 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧.

At SAGA, learning goes far beyond the classroom. Survival Day forms resilience, leadership, collaboration, problem-solving, and confidence, while creating memories our students will never forget.

At Spirit & Grace Academy, that formation begins in the classroom, takes root in community, and is carried into the world through lives of service.

Spirit & Grace Academy is part of a renewal of Catholic classical education —forming students not only intellectually, but spiritually and morally.

At SAGA, faith is the foundation. Students grow in their relationship with Christ while being formed for lives of purpose, service, and leadership-including serving others as the hands and feet of Christ in our community.

Tuition alone does not sustain this mission. It is made possible through a partnership between families and donors who believe in making this formation accessible.

🌻 One of our most beloved SAGA traditions each spring is our Lenten pilgrimage day.

A few weeks ago, our school community gathered for Mass at the Holy Family Shrine, followed by praying the Stations of the Cross at the The Cloisters on the Platte. It was a beautiful opportunity for our students to enter more deeply into the season through prayer, reflection, and community.

The day concluded with a picnic lunch and hike at Schramm Park State Recreation Area, where students enjoyed fellowship and the beauty of God’s creation together.

Moments like these are a treasured part of life at SAGA and a beautiful reminder that formation extends well beyond the classroom.
