Still have some slots for this Sunday’s Pistol Skill Builder! The Pistol Skill Builder course offered training opportunities to enhance your performance on data driven results that are collected via drills and exercises. It’s a how to/what to practice type course.

What is Pistol Skill Builder? When you go to the range for a practice session, do you know what you are going to practice? Do you have a drill that you like to complete but do not understand the why behind it or how to improve on the specific drill? The Pistol Skill Builder is […]

The 2026 Iowa Section Championships is complete. The match was outstanding as a competitor and working the match as an RO. The stages were medium and long courses with just a couple short courses. The match ran flawless and some awesome competitors came through. Ethan Settle, Keith Walston and Scott Arnburg had the match running smoothly and put together a great team. MacKenzie Czarnecki put together great match and stage sponsors for some awesome prizes. Also shot with a great squad! The shooting community is great!

I decided to shoot a brand new gun for this major. (Maybe should have shot the new gun a little more to get use to it.) I shot well but learning the input on the new gun caused some makeups which cost me time and a couple no shoots. I changed my stage plans on a couple stages from the initial walkthroughs and I probably should have kept the original plans. Cost me more time.

The Masterpiece Arms LOC V2 ran great.
Zeroed chronograph right at 130 with a standard deviation of 2.2. Amazing ammo. The Red Hill tactical products performed amazing as always and the VENDETTA APEX kept the gun running for all 11 stages. It was hot out but the LockedIn Grip kept the gun in my hands.

Looking forward to next years Sectional but the Crossroads Classic is around the corner.

New gun. Same great lubricant. Masterpiece Arms and of course, VENDETTA APEX. Great combo. Ran this gun at the CrossRoads Shooting Sports sponsored Iowa Section Championships. Will post more later on that as I have to RO the remainder of the match the next couple days.

Stage video from my first level 3 Area Match. Area 3 USPSA Championships at the fantastic Heartland Public Shooting Park Jeff and crew put together a great match with fun stages and the RO’s were great. Motorcycles, a bus, 40 plus yard targets and an all steel stage and more to test our practical shooting ability.

My goals for this match were to place in the top half overall and in Limited Optics, along with no FTSA’s and more importantly, learn and have fun. Performance anxiety is real and I felt it. Some of the best shooters in the country were at the match like Mike Hwang , Christian Sailer, Nils Jonasson Jonah Pres Gabe Rivera Tim Herron Carson Armsbury to name a few. Great local guys Conor Davis Ethan Settle Cooper Runyan Craig Tappe and many more. I think 15 Iowa shooters overall but my math is not the best. lol.

I finished 106th overall out of 273 and finished 36th/108 in limited optics.

I am fortunate to have great local matches but major matches bring the sport to another level. The Iowa Sectional is just days away and looking forward to it. Learning occurred, fun was had, and got to meet and hang with some amazing people. Squad 21 was awesome. Thanks to all for a great experience.

Thanks to Zach Bibler for taking the video.

Wanted to throw a quick shout out to Red Hill tactical for my match sponsor slot for Area 3. Check out them all for all your competition needs.

Zeroed performed amazing and hit right on 130 power factor. Clean, accurate and reliable ammo.

VENDETTA Apex kept the gun running all weekend in the heat and LockedIn Grip kept the gun locked in.

Also CrossRoads Shooting Sports Iowa’s Premier range and gun shop for allowing me to represent them at matches.

Check all of them out!
