We’re proud of the student who stepped up when it mattered and grateful for educators like Ms. Krizmanich who equip students with skills that can reach far beyond the classroom. 💚🤍

Pictured with Ms. Krizmanich is Jamie Bridegroom, Magnolia’s mom (and an awesome Concord Ox Bow Elementary teacher). You may remember Magnolia’s story from earlier this year, when she stepped in to perform CPR on her dad after he collapsed and helped save his life using skills she learned at Ox Bow. https://wwmt.com/news/state/fourth-grader-receives-award-after-helping-save-dads-life-cpr-heart-attack-shoveling-snow-concord-ox-bow-elementary-school-magnolia-bridegroom-mom-started-first-resonders-heartsaver-hero-award-elkhart-county-indiana

What an incredible full-circle moment! ❤️🚒

Division Chief Gour from the Elkhart Fire Department personally visited Concord Ox Bow to invite Ms. Krizmanich to a special dinner honoring those who helped save a life through CPR.

Ms. Krizmanich taught her students this lifesaving skill—and last year, one of those students put that knowledge into action when it mattered most.

We are incredibly proud of Ms. Krizmanich and her student. This is a powerful reminder that the lessons taught in our classrooms can make a life-changing difference in our community! 💚🤍

We love seeing learning through play! These Concord East Side Elementary students are building fine motor skills, practicing letter recognition and learning to recognize their names.

This is also an activity that families of littles can try at home. Have your child roll Play-Doh into small pieces and use them to form the letters in their name!

🖐️ HIGH FIVE FRIDAY! 💚

We’re kicking off something new at Concord this year thanks to an idea from CHS Cheer Coach Katie Donat!

CHS student-athletes will visit our elementary schools on Fridays to greet students with high fives, smiles and encouragement to start the day.

High Five Friday is all about building connections across Concord, giving our younger students a chance to interact with high school students they can look up to, and building excitement about what it means to be a future Minuteman!

Being part of the Carnegie Foundation and XQ's Future of High School Network means sharing a mission with 23 other school systems — and getting a window into what’s possible.

Carnegie just published a story following three of our fellow network members, California Area School District, Grand Rapids Public Museum High School, and Piper USD 203, as they build records of learning that show what students can actually do, rather than where they rank. Across Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Kansas, their educators have reworked old tools and built new ones, opening up room for students to demonstrate what they know in ways a grade never could.

For more than a century, the tools we've used to summarize what students know — from GPA to class ranking — were built to sort and rank, not to show how capable young people truly are. Three systems in our Future of High School Network with XQ Institute are working to rewrite that record (https://cfdn.at/3Sh2rCo).

In rural Pennsylvania, California Area School District's "Village Transcript" invites teachers, employers, and community members to document a student's skills wherever learning happens. At Grand Rapids Public Museum School in Michigan, a teacher-built platform turns a learning history into a navigable story, organized around competencies rather than courses and credits. And in Piper USD 203 in Kansas, every student now defends what they've learned before a panel of industry judges in a senior capstone.

We're proud to share their work in our latest Future of High School Innovation story. Read it here: https://cfdn.at/3Sh2rCo

Elkhart Public Library is a great partner to Concord Community Schools, and now they’re asking for our community’s input!

EPL is developing a Facilities Master Plan to help guide the future of its five locations, including the long-term role of the Downtown Library.

Community surveys are available in English and Spanish through August 22. We encourage Concord families, staff and community members to take a few minutes to share their thoughts and help shape the future of library service in Elkhart.

Learn more and complete the survey here:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EMX7ReuFJ/

We want your thoughts! We're planning for future EPL services and spaces. Take our survey and share your ideas about our libraries and what they should be for the community.

Visit MyEPL.org/facilities-plans for surveys and more details.
