Jace, my youngest who is in Kindergarten and starting his journey as an independent reader, checked out a book from the school. Inside I found this. The symbolism of the moment, as teens say these days, "gave me all the feels." I have been out of the classroom for five years now, but this produced a wave of nostalgia.

To ALL my former students who participated in KRA, let this be a reminder of your impact on reading at Central and never lose sight of its importance. Not only have you given the gift of reading to hundreds of other students, but you have also given it to my son.

I hope the passion to consume ideas through reading and produce ideas through writing continues and may you pass it on to others.

Garrett Schroeder created videos all the time when I had him as a student in the classroom. Everything he created blew away the students and myself. It's awesome to see him pursuing his passion. Proud to donate, and I hope others consider too.

The Actor is an independent film my friend Cody Gartner and I have been working on for over 8 months now. The entire movie is shot on black and white 16mm motion picture film and is remniniscent of experimental and avant garde works of yesteryear.  Synopsis: Matt has confused and depressing fee...

It's usually about this time of year that I would begin to have a recurring nightmare where I am in a school building that I don't recognize, and I'm suppose to be teaching in a classroom that I can't find, and when I get there, there is a room full of students that I am suppose to teach, but I have prepared nothing. It's this nightmare that tells me school is approaching, and I need to get prepared.

It's also about this time of year when I feel nostalgic and reminisce about the classroom days. I've been in my new position with the AEA for two full years now, and I still get asked by some in and out of the community, "Do you ever miss the classroom?" I reply the same way every time: "I sorely miss the relationships I had with students."

I sometimes debate whether I should go ahead and just delete this page, but during this time of year, it acts as a time capsule for me to go back through and fondly recall the classroom memories.

I sincerely wish all educators, soon-to-be educators, and students the best of luck as this next school year approaches.

It was an honor to speak to the NHS members and inductees at the ceremony tonight. Here was my speech. I didn't know how else to share it, so I thought this page was the best place. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gwRO5SBK7CxKesJZiTSRxcwuX8x8gTDHsX9oLma_VGk/edit?usp=sharing

Good evening, parents, siblings, Central staff, current NHS members, and NHS inductees. When I got the phone call to speak here tonight, I was humbled at first with the initial thought...Why me? But that thought was quickly replaced with excitement...excitement at the fact that I get to see all of

I know this isn't English related, but I am looking for any students that would be interested in some Silver Chord hours who could help at this weekend's Central Wrestling Invitational. You would be in charge of moving bout sheets from one table to the next. VERY easy work. Comment if you are interested.

To any former high school students who used iPads while at Central: if you could go back again and choose between iPads or laptops for the classroom device, which would you choose and why? Which do you feel is the best device for LEARNING? Which one could make you understand your classroom content more easily (Math content, Science content, etc.). Keep in mind, typing papers is NOT learning, that's performing a task. I welcome any respectful discussion. I'm having these kinds of conversations right now with parents and wanted to know your thoughts. Thanks!

Even in Wisconsin Dells we can find errors in sentences, looks like Wisconsin people can't spell male. Last bullet everybody!

It’s gross, but I’d give the plate to him who could pick a cookie up with only his tongue!
