Whispering Pines Homeschool Village Whispering Pines Homeschool Village is a community that supports homeschooling families. We believe that learning should not be confined to four walls.

We believe that it takes a village to raise a child and we want to be part of that village! Nature is a huge factor in our learning process here, in fact it could be said that 75% of most days are spent outside on our 18 acres. The outdoors lends itself perfectly to nurturing and building a child's emotional, physical, and spiritual development, as well as supporting mental well-being. We believe

children learn best when they are given the opportunity to learn the way that fits them best! We focus on project-based and place-based learning. Here at Whispering Pines we offer a few options. We have a "microschool"/homeschool hybrid option for families with children aged K-3rd grade. Do you want to give your children the opportunity to learn alongside other homeschooled families? So you need extra support as a working household? With a choice of 1, 2 or 3 days/week, you can tailor your child's learning experience to what fits your family's schedule best. Each option comes with its own learning opportunities.

Our summer camps have been such a huge success! 🌿☀️

What an incredible summer of adventure, discovery, and new friendships. Watching children build confidence, try new things, and connect with one another has been one of the greatest joys of the season.

🦎 Reptile Camp brought children face-to-face with amazing reptiles as they learned about snakes, lizards, turtles, and more through hands-on encounters, games, crafts, and interactive science activities.

🐝 Insect Investigators had campers exploring the tiny world all around them. We searched for insects with sweep nets, investigated pollinators, solved a Queen Bee mystery, learned about insect life cycles, met fascinating live bugs, and discovered just how important these little creatures are to our ecosystem.

🔥 Junior Survivor Camp challenged campers to become capable outdoor adventurers. They practiced survival skills, built shelters, learned outdoor safety, worked together through team challenges, and gained confidence while exploring the outdoors.

We have one last camp before we get quiet around here until fall classes start!

🍃🪵 Nature play goes beyond “fun outside time”—it fundamentally changes how children relate to each other.

Research consistently shows that unstructured outdoor and nature-based play creates the conditions for stronger social relationships. When children are given freedom of choice, open space, and fewer adult-imposed rules, their interactions shift in powerful ways.

We see this daily at Whispering Pines and it is such a beautiful thing. While conflict does arise-there is also room for problem solving.

🌿 More space = less conflict, more cooperation

Outdoor environments naturally reduce crowding and competition over materials. With more room and flexible resources, children engage in cooperative play, role play, and shared storytelling, which strengthens peer relationships. There is also the ability to give yourself the space when needed. Such an important skill!

Bottom line:🌟

Nature play removes walls—literally and socially. It gives children the space, freedom, and flexibility they need to practice being part of a community. In that environment, friendships form more naturally, cooperation increases, and every child has a place to belong. ❤️
