We’ve had two special days to celebrate at St. John!

On Sunday, we celebrated Leah Beck and the incredible 20 years of service she has dedicated to ministry in the LC-MS. We are grateful for the ways God has worked through Leah’s faithful service and for the many lives she has touched along the way. What a blessing to celebrate this milestone with her! 💐

Today, our St. John third graders received a very special gift of their own—their very own Bibles! 📖 These Bibles belong to them to read, learn from, underline, highlight, and mark up as they grow in their understanding of God’s Word. Our prayer is that these Bibles will be a blessing to each student as they continue to grow in faith, becoming more deeply rooted in Christ and built up in Him.

What a beautiful reminder that whether celebrating years of faithful service or encouraging our youngest students to dig into God’s Word, we are blessed to grow together with our roots firmly planted in Christ.

🌱 And just like that… we’re back! 🎉

Before the halls filled with students, laughter, and the excitement of a new school year this morning, our staff gathered for a quick first-day photo! 📸 We’re ready for another year of learning, growing, serving, and being rooted in Christ! 💚

After their morning classes, our 4th–8th graders headed outside for recess and enjoyed some time playing on our beautiful grassy field (much better than dirt)!🌱☀️ It was a great way to take a break, have some fun, and enjoy being back together.

As we begin this new school year, we pray that our students and staff will continue to be rooted and built up in Christ, strengthened in their faith, and overflowing with thankfulness. ✝️

Here’s to a wonderful year of learning, growing, friendship, and God’s blessings! 💚🌱

💙🦆 We loved seeing so many of our St. John families at Back-to-School Night tonight! It was wonderful to see familiar faces, meet new ones, and feel the excitement building for a new year. We can't wait to officially welcome our students back into the building on Thursday! 🎉📚

But before we officially wrap up our summer Duckventures, we have a few more adventures to share!

🦆🏔️🚢 Bridget and her family took their duck on an incredible Alaskan cruise during the second week of August! They had an amazing time taking in the sights, enjoying the adventure, and, of course, making sure their trusty duck got in on the fun. Bridget even captured some great photos with her feathered travel companion! 📸🦆

What a fantastic way to wrap up summer!

🦆🏕️🔥 This Duckventure was all about the great outdoors!

Some of our graduated 8th grade boys—Marshall, Jett, and Zander—headed to Shades of Sherwood for a camping adventure. With their ducks along for the fun, they enjoyed campfires, fresh air, and plenty of time exploring and relaxing in the great outdoors.

We're pretty sure the ducks were happy to tag along for a weekend of camping and adventure! 😎🦆

Thanks for sharing another Duckventure, boys! We love seeing our graduates making the most of their summer!

🦆☀️🌴 The LaVoie family ducks have been on some BIG Duckventures this summer!

Right after school ended, Mrs. LaVoie and her duck headed south to Las Colinas, Texas, tagging along on one of Mr. LaVoie's work trips. While there, they made sure to enjoy some vacation time of their own—relaxing at the spa, lounging by (and even in!) the pool, and enjoying some delicious meals out. Talk about starting summer in style! 😎🏊‍♀️🧖‍♀️

Then, just last week, the LaVoie family headed in the opposite direction—way up north to Minnesota's own Voyageurs National Park! They spent the week cruising the pristine northern lakes aboard a houseboat. 🛥️🌲

The LaVoies and their ducks packed plenty of adventure into the trip: hiking, exploring islands, digging for natural clay and creating with it, climbing rocks, fishing, enjoying a houseboat trivia night over the boat radio, playing cards, and, of course, taking plenty of time to simply enjoy the incredible views. 🪨🎨🎣🃏

From Texas sunshine to northern Minnesota wilderness, these ducks have certainly experienced the best of both worlds this summer! 🦆🌴➡️🌲

There are only two weeks of summer break left. What duckventures still await our school families and their feathered friends?

🦆💍🌽⛺ Ms. Ford and Unicorn Duck have been on quite the adventure lately!

Their weekend started in Hudson, Wisconsin, where they attended Ms. Ford's niece's wedding. Unicorn Duck cleaned up nicely for the occasion and even got to enjoy the luxury of a nice hotel bed for the night. Talk about traveling in style! 😴🛏️

Once they returned home, there was no time for either of them to rest—they had some serious summer food prep by making freezer corn together. 🌽🦆

Then it was off to Cannon Falls for the 70th annual Powell Family Reunion! This time, Ms. Ford had to trade the comfy hotel bed for a sleeping bag and tent. 🏕️ While she may have been roughing it a bit, there was plenty of good food to make up for it. And the Unicorn Duck? It had a blast meeting some fellow feathered friends and enjoying a little duck-pond fun! 🦆💦

From wedding celebrations to freezer corn and family reunions, this duck is proving that Duckventures can happen just about anywhere!

🦆🌧️⛵ The three adventurous Vollkommer ducks waddled all the way to Kentucky for an unforgettable visit to the life-size Noah's Ark!

It was a long drive, but these ducks agreed it was well worth the trip. Standing beside the massive Ark gave them a whole new appreciation for the incredible account of Noah and the amazing ways God cared for His people. It's one thing to read about the Ark...it's another to see just how enormous it really was!

The ducks' official review? Way bigger than they ever imagined! 😄

🦆🌊 The Voigt family's ducks headed east for a Great Lakes adventure in beautiful Michigan!

Their trip was filled with unforgettable stops, beginning with a refreshing swim in Lake Huron. They also visited Quarry View, where they watched massive freighters being loaded with limestone before taking in the impressive quarry landscape. 🚢⛰️

Mrs. Voigt even ventured out on a kayaking adventure, where her duck discovered an interesting piece of sponge rock along the way. 🛶🪨

No visit to Rogers City would be complete without an ice cream stop at the pavilion and a stroll along the breakwall. To top off each day, the family enjoyed peaceful walks along the beach in search of colorful "sea" glass. 🍦🌅

From kayaking and quarry views to beach walks and sweet treats, this Duckventure was full of Pure Michigan memories. Thanks, Voigt family, for taking us along!

Even though school starts in just 3½ weeks, there's still time for your duck to squeeze in a few more adventures. Keep snapping photos and sending your Duckventures to Mrs. LaVoie—we'd love to feature where your duck travels before the school year begins!

🦆🛶📍 The Linds and their adventurous ducks have been checking off some Minnesota bucket-list stops!

Their travels took them to Pelican Rapids, where they met the town's famous feathered friend, Pelican Pete. We can only imagine the bird-sized conversations that took place! 🦤😄

The adventure didn't stop there—they also visited the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi River. Of course, the ducks couldn't resist crossing from one side to the other. After all, how often do you get the chance to waddle across one of the world's greatest rivers? 🌊👣

From giant pelicans to tiny river crossings, the Linds' Duckventure was full of unforgettable Minnesota memories!
