🎓We are excited to share that Elk Rapids High School has been named one of the Top 20 best public high schools in Michigan according to U.S. News and World Report.

🏆 ERHS earned the 19th best public high school ranking in Michigan, and is #591 nationally, ahead of nearly 26,000 other schools analyzed.

🏫 Notably, the school is the only institution in Northern Michigan in the state’s Top 20. With a student population of 375, it’s also one of the only schools of its size on the shortlist, which is composed mostly of large high schools in Metro Detroit and greater Grand Rapids.

💭“We are unique in that we have multiple Advanced Placement [A.P.] course offerings, and that’s a direct result of the expertise of our faculty and staff,” said Principal Young.

“Academic rigor is an expectation here at Elk Rapids High School because of the support of our community. I think one reason for our success is the relationship we have with our students and families.”

📋 The Report’s biennial analysis considers college readiness, state assessment scores, graduation rate, and low-income and minority student performance.

💯 ERHS earned a 96.71/100 overall. The school has a 100% graduation rate and high marks for science proficiency and reading proficiency in particular. ERHS also has the 19th best state assessment proficiency in Michigan.

⚽ Last night, the community celebrated our 2026 Spring MHSAA Champions during halftime of the Varsity soccer game against Oxford.

🏆 Congratulations to golf state champion Blake Springstead and the 4x400 state titlists Miles Prabhaker, Noah Liggett, Garret Godden, and Gavin Hamilton.

👏 All five student-athletes also play on the varsity soccer team. The Elks tied Oxford 2-2 in their season opener.

✈️ Cherryland Middle School is back from their annual trip to Washington D.C. Across three whirlwind days, students explored major landmarks of the country's capital with expert tour guides.

🇺🇸 Stops included the George Washington's home at Mount Vernon, the Holocaust Museum, tours of the capitol building, and an official wreath laying ceremony at Arlington Cemetery.

They also visited several other museums and war memorials, including those dedicated to World War II, September 11, Iwo Jima, the Korean war, the Vietnam war, and more.

💭 "The trip provides a real opportunity for our students to experience history in person," said principal Josh Haggerty.

👏 "It is always an amazing feeling when we receive positive feedback from the museum staff and fellow travelers about our students' engagement, respect, and appreciation of history and government."
