Attention all Alumni and Sunrise Families!! I wanted to invite you all to attend the Varsity Basketball game this Friday where Ms. Kathy Moody-Breece will be honored and inducted into the Elk Rapids Schools Hall of Fame!!

As the month of December comes to an end I wanted to share some of the awesome experiences and learning opportunities that we were able to enjoy due to the kindness and generosity of Do a Little Good, Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan, Dog Training Elite Northern Michigan, Elk Rapids District Library, and many thoughtful community members.

We have been able to make many delicious meals while following recipes, learning food safety, and having some healthy cooking competitions.

We were able to have the therapy dogs visit the classroom again and learn a little bit more about how the training works with different dogs.

Then at the end of the month we were able to celebrate Christmas with as group while playing games, learning about each other’s traditions, and of course opening our gifts from our secret Santa’s and community members.

Yesterday in Chemistry the students engaged in a hands on activity to gain a deeper underunderstanding for radioactive decay in Carbon 14.

We had a great turn out last night at the Annie Kotowsky Scholarship fundraiser. We were able to showcase over 15 pieces of student artwork and are extremely grateful for the community support!

Special thank you to Chris Kotowsky and the owners and staff at Johnny’s Torch Rivera for organizing this event! As well as Neveah for all the extra work she put into setting up and supporting.
