The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) affirmed today that dyslexia, a reading disability, is entirely unrelated to a person's intelligence or cognitive potential. Dyslexic individuals possess the capacity to think, lead, and achieve at the highest levels, and countless have gone on to accomplish extraordinary achievements across every field.

IDA stands firmly in support of dyslexic learners by advancing evidence-based reading instruction grounded in the science of reading, while also championing the unique strengths, resilience, and potential that define this community.

Just a month ago, this 2nd-grade student struggled with decoding CVC words and was hesitant to attempt reading.

Now, he has mastered CVC words and is reading and writing with digraphs and consonant blends! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The best part is that he is feeling more confident and is more inclined to take risks rather than avoid them.

Over 30 more hours of professional development completed to renew my Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist certification and Wilson certification! Embracing lifelong learning to empower others!

I’m not sure how I got so lucky! Two students gave me drawings today - just because.

I’m humbled that the first picture repeatedly says “thank you”. I made sure she knew that I’m just as grateful for her and all of my students. 🥹🥹🥹 🫶🏼

This week, I completed 13 hours of professional development in Lindamood Bell’s Seeing Stars Program. I love meeting and learning from other professionals while adding to my dyslexia intervention “toolbox”! Forever a student! 💪🏼☺️

I received this beautiful framed letter today from a graduating student. Reading intervention isn’t speedy quick and it’s hard work but it can be life-changing - for both the student and teacher. 🥰🥰

It’s important to incorporate spelling practice into dyslexia intervention. High frequency words can be especially tricky for students but there are strategies that help!

⭐️ Student A explained and illustrated how his ADHD ( “80HD” ) and dyslexia make it “so hard to read”. I love his self-awareness & how he advocates for himself and what works best for his brain. ❤️

⭐️ Student B is super artistic. She decided to practice reading and spelling words (real and nonsense) with consonant blends while simultaneously creating beautiful art! ❤️
