Hi, Third Nature! š
Iām Yare, and over the last few months Iāve been the human behind everything youāve seen shared on the Third Nature Instagram. I figured it was time to share why this community means so much to me.
Iāve realized that every year Iāve come to Third Nature, Iāve left doing something Iād never done before. One year, it was finally doing my first front flip into the lake. I was terrified, but someone showed me how, people cheered me on, and I just went for it.
Looking back, thatās kind of what Third Nature has always done for me.
At one of my first camps, we had to introduce ourselves to the group. I was so nervous that I completely froze. I left that workshop crying because I had convinced myself Iād never be able to speak in front of people. (Swipe to read my journal entries from that weekend.)
The next year, during one of Jakeās workshops, I confronted one of my biggest insecurities: that English isnāt my first language. The people around me helped me see it wasnāt something that disqualified me, it was a gift. So I stood there, yelling back at my limiting beliefs in Spanish. (Swipe to watch.)
This Labor Day weekend, Iāll be missing camp because Iāll be speaking in front of more than 1,200 people, sharing my testimony and teaching Godās Word.
If you had told the girl who walked out of that first workshop in tears that this would one day be her life, I never wouldāve believed you.
Third Nature didnāt just give me great weekends, it gave me a community that believed in me before I believed in myself.
So while Iām sad to miss camp this year, Iām only missing it because of what camp helped make possible.
Thank you, Third Nature. ā¤ļø
