The School of Engineering and Computer Science

The School of Engineering and Computer Science Elizabethtown College, through its Department of Engineering & Physics, offers several programs leading to a bachelor’s degree.

Our project-based curriculum gives you practical experience throughout your education. We offer three majors, three minors, and serve the College's Core Program with a variety of classes. We offer two degrees accredited by the Engineering Commission of ABET: BS in Engineering, and BS in Computer Engineering (in cooperation with Dept of Computer Science), a BS in Computational Physics, and a BS in Physics Education (in cooperation with Dept of Education). The Engineering Commission of ABET can be contacted at 111 Market Pl., Suite 1050 Baltimore, MD 21202 (410) 347-7700). Our BS Engineering degree is accredited for concentrations in Biomedical, Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, and Mechatronics. We have 55 to 60 new students each year, taught by seven full-time professors whose prime responsibilities are to develop your scientific and critical thinking abilities. In addition, we have a full-time physics research scientist, a distinguished professor, a physics lab technician/Instructor, a full-time fabrication technician, and adjunct faculty with a wealth of practical experience, and 140 other professors on the college faculty who will round out a truly enriching education. Part of what makes us a family is our upperclassmen who take pride in mentoring new students. Elizabethtown College offers a unique environment; there aren't many ABET accredited engineering degrees at schools of less than 2,000 students with the broad liberal arts tradition of Elizabethtown.

Elizabethtown College's professors, Dean Atwood, Dr. DeGoede, Dr. Waters and Industry Liason, Stephanie Zegers was joined by Greenway Institute cofounder, Troy McBride, to attend the KEEN (Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network) National Conference in Austin, Texas last weekend.

It was great to see that KEEN partner programs are aligned with improving engineering education. Greenway Institute believes strongly in fostering the entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on creativity, connections, and creating value. Drs. Atwood and DeGoede led a breakout session on why mastery-based learning is one of the more innovative and well-received strategies.
