Scenes from our last Fake Fireplace of the semester, were we took a break from intentional conversation and chose laughter and intentional joy inducing moments! May we all have opportunities for joy these next days. Good luck on this last week of classes Jays!

Three Etown students joined over 20 community members partnering with Lancaster Interfaith Coalition and Parish Resource Center to feed families this weekend. We made over 1100 sandwiches in two hours that are distributed in community meal projects in Lancaster. We are grateful for their volunteering their service at a busy time in the semester.

A common saying for Christians is “Christ is risen”, met with a response of “Christ is risen indeed.” A blessed Easter to all who celebrate!

Power of One Day is coming and we again are serving our students through the FASE Fund- our emergency fund for students at Elizabethtown. This fund helps college students at Etown College and college students who are connected to the Elizabethtown area. Save the date and help us continue to serve students through the Power of One Day! This year’s Hope, Cope and Change service and learning trip was extra meaningful as we engaged around topics of climate change and interfaith connections. We started with dinner with Andrew Furman, ‘23, currently working for the governor addressing forever chemicals across the state. The next day we met an inspiring Georgetown student and Sarah from Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake, and ended the same night the war began with new friends from the Islamic Center of the Potomac to share in the breaking of the fast. It truly felt like a protest to violence to practice peace with them and be so welcomed. Following was work cultivating kids to care for trees at the Oakland Interfaith Center, followed by a snow days exploration of Luray Caverns, an empowering conversation with the members of the Shenandoah Faith and Climate leaders, and lastly, working on the Jubilee Climate Farm which is one of the partners of last year’s Peace Lecturer David Radcliff. Once again, I feel inspired that there is so much we can do. Thankful to for the continued collaboration and good pictures!

Here’s a great opportunity for a year of service with great skill building and needs met while you work and learn with others. Public health, medical, social work students, and more have a great opportunity. And as a former Etown Affiliate minister, we can confirm Ann is great to work with!
