Let us pray for purity each day and live a life of self-denial.

Here are some practical tips to help us stay pure:

Offer up one thing at each meal.
Practice better custody of the eyes.
Guard your senses from anything that could lead you to sin.
Avoid the near occasion of sin.
Invoke the holy names of Jesus and Mary.
Call upon your guardian angel.
Do something physical if the temptations are intense…do some push ups or go for a walk.
And seek the Lord’s mercy always in the Sacrament of Confession.

We are never alone!

Today is the feast of St. Clare of Assisi.

At the age of 18, she left home to follow St. Francis of Assisi and eventually founded the Poor Clares.

She had a great love for the Holy Eucharist.

The greatest saints like Clare eventually saw suffering as a blessing, as a way to become more united to their Crucified Bridegroom.

True love involves dying to ourselves, which includes embracing the crosses Our Lord sends us and refusing to give into sin.

Happy Feast Day of St. John Vianney!

This incredible saint would often spend over 10 hours a day hearing confessions.

Let us forgive all people, especially ourselves.
For if we want God to forgive us of our trespasses, we must forgive the sins committed against us.

Prayers for all of our priests today!

Today is the feast of St. Alphonsa of the Immaculate Conception, who lived from 1910 to 1946. She died at the young age of 35 from health complications. She is a patron saint of those against illness.

She was a Catholic Franciscan Religious Sister and the first person of Indian origin to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church.

She was also the first canonized saint of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic Church of the Saint Thomas Christian community.

Pope Benedict XVI once wrote about her:

“This exceptional woman ... was convinced that her cross was the very means of reaching the heavenly banquet prepared for her by the Father, By accepting the invitation to the wedding feast, and by adorning herself with the garment of God’s grace through prayer and penance, she conformed her life to Christ’s and now delights in the ‘rich fare and choice wines’ of the heavenly kingdom.”

Let us avoid complaining and instead cling to Christ Crucified,

St. Alphonsa of the Immaculate Conception, pray for us.
