Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School is located in the Adirondack Park, within the community of Elizabethtown, New York - the County Seat of Essex County. Elizabethtown is centrally located between Albany and Montreal approximately six hours from New York City. Lake Placid (home of the 1932 and 1980 Olympics) is just 26 miles away. The district has a population of approximately 2500 people ( Elizabe

thtown: 1,163 and Lewis: 1,382). The Elizabethtown area consists of 82 square miles, while Lewis has 84 square miles. Major industry includes logging and retail lumber, the Essex County Office Complex (which employs many district/county residents), the Community Hospital, Nursing Home, School, and many family owned small businesses. The entire region consists of unique, rural communities, exceptional hunting/recreational areas and the always outstanding beauty of the Adirondack Mountains. Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School is a public school consisting of one building with approximately 300 students, K-12. Our administrative staff consists of a Superintendent/Principal and Director of Student Services. We currently employ 30 teaching faculty (including the 2010 NYS Art Educator of the Year) and 11 instructional support staff.
