Two of our incredible third-year audiology students were able to be part of Vanderbilt’s LEND program- focused on improving care and access for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities while training future leaders in interdisciplinary, family-centered care.🌐📒🌎

This year, they worked in interprofessional teams on projects that make a real impact:
• Rachel explored barriers to telehealth access in rural communities
• Kennedy developed an IEP/504 toolkit to help healthcare providers better support their patients in educational settings

300+ hours, so much learning, and even more purpose.

We’re so proud of them and all of their accomplishments👏🏼

More Community Outreach 🤭🦻🏼🌐

Lately, our students have been stepping beyond the classroom and into the heart of our communities- listening, learning, and connecting with diverse patient populations.

Every interaction is a reminder of why this work matters.

This past weekend, some of our students were able to support The Crumley House by participating in their annual Joggin’ for the Noggin 5k and Pancake Breakfast.🥇🥞⭐️

The Crumley House is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of traumatic brain injuries through comprehensive residential and adult day programs. Since their founding in 1992, they have been committed to offering a range of services including cognitive, physical, and technology training, alongside engaging group activities and community re-entry programs.

Honored to support a cause that impacts millions🔊

This past month, ETSU Audiology students and faculty attended the annual dine-to-donate event benefitting the American Tinnitus Association (ATA). The ATA’s mission is to advance tinnitus research, increase public awareness, and provide support for the more than 50 million Americans living with tinnitus. Through events like this, the organization continues to fund critical research and advocate for those affected by this often invisible phenomenon.

This event also honors the enduring legacy of Texas Roadhouse founder, Kent Taylor, who lived and struggled with severe tinnitus.

For more information regarding tinnitus and tinnitus research, please visit www.ata.org🌐🦻🏼

First Community Outreach event of the semester is in the books📒🤓💫

Our students were able to provide hearing screenings and basic hearing aid repairs for members of the Jonesborough Senior Center yesterday afternoon. We’re extremely grateful for the partnership, and are excited to continue our efforts in education, advocacy, and support for those in our community.

We had so much fun last week helping Appalachian Miles for Smiles provide free hearing evaluations for members of our surrounding communities. Our students were able to gain experience both professionally and personally, and we are so thankful for those (pictured and not) who volunteered their time to serve, collaborate, and celebrate accessible hearing healthcare. 🤓💙👂🏼

ETSU Audiology is grateful for our partnership with The Health Wagon in Norton, VA. Through this collaboration, we’re honored to offer hearing evaluations and discounted hearing aids to individuals in the surrounding communities.

We believe that everyone deserves access to quality hearing care, and this partnership allows us to make that a reality for many. Together, we’re enhancing communication and connection, one ear at a time.🦻🏼🌐💫
