Today’s graduate spotlight is Sydney Sexton from Jonesborough, TN. Sydney plans to remain in the East Tennessee area and work with the pediatric population. She has been reminder through job searching how fortunate she is to be part of a field where she can find enjoyment working with any population and in any setting. During her time at ETSU, Sydney was president of NSSLHA, participated in research regarding the efficacy of ETSU’s Positive Eating Program as well as personal perspectives of young adults with cleft lip and/or palate. She also participated in the International Interprofessional Education Program and maintained a tuition scholarship through the Department of Art and Design. Sydney’s favorite memory was “Before the pandemic when some of the graduate students stayed late to complete semester status reports and were feeling the urge to have some good-natured fun. With everyone else gone, we pulled out the sit-and-scoot scooters and roller around the long halls. Being able to have fun in the same way children do was just another reminder of the many benefits to spending most of our days surrounded by kiddos and individuals with similar passions to your own.” Congratulations and good luck, Sydney! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Lindsey Bible from Middle Tennessee. Lindsey plans to work with the pediatric population in the Knoxville area. During her time at ETSU, Lindsey was involved with NSSLHA and a graduate assistant in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Lindsey’s favorite memory was “Having my friends over at my lake house for a week last summer!” Best of luck, Lindsey! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Kate Vandrew from Mechanicsburg, PA. Kate has accepted a job with Speech 4 Kidz in the Hampstead/Jacksonville, NC area. During her time at ETSU, Kate was a graduate assistant for Dr. Boggs and lunch and learn chair for NSSLHA. Kate’s favorite memory was “all the brunch and coffee shop dates with my friends!” Way to go, Kate! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Jessika Tucker from Charlotte, NC. Jessika plans to move back to Charlotte to work as an early intervention SLP. During her time at ETSU, Jessika was an active member of NSSLHA and participated in research with the autistic population alongside Dr. Boggs. Jessika’s favorite memory was “Getting to meet all my lifelong friends!” Congratulations and good luck, Jessika! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Maggie Steranko from Mooresville, NC. Maggie has accepted a job with the Greater Atlanta Speech and Language Clinic in Marietta, GA. There she will be working with birth to 22yrs with a focus on language and feeding. As well as, working in their special needs K-12 school. During her time at ETSU, Maggie was NSSLHA secretary, a graduate assistant for Dr. Boggs and the Peer Mentor for the Nave ASD clinic/Positive Eating Program. Maggie’s favorite memory was “Our Christmas party last winter before we were no longer able to do whole-cohort bonding activities! Gretel made our language disorders team matching scrunchies and we all made/enjoyed yummy snacks (shout out to Mary Mac’s crack dip :) )!” Best of luck, Maggie! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Carly Stephens from Asheville, NC. Carly plans to work in the school setting and spend her summers at a TBI camp and/or hippotherapy program. During her time at ETSU, Carly was involved with NSSLHA, IPE program and attended the TASSLP convention. Carly’s favorite memory was attending Hoppy Possum with her roommates pre-covid! Way to go, Carly! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Tayla Sluss from Johnson City, TN. Tayla has accepted a job at TalkBack working with the pediatric population! During her time at ETSU, Tayla was involved with NSSLHA, participated in Scarecrow Skedaddle, Carnival for a Cause, and was part of the Interprofessional Education Program. Tayla’s favorite memories was “how excited client’s get when they have successfully made that sound we’ve worked on for so long that has been really hard!” Good luck, Tayla! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Taylor Simon from Hendersonville, NC. Taylor plans to work with the pediatric population in either the school or clinical setting in North Carolina. During her time at ETSU, Taylor was a member of NSSLHA and a tuition scholar in the art department. Taylor doesn’t have “just one favorite memory. I met so many amazing people and friends that I will have for a lifetime, and I loved getting to know and help so many clients in my clinical settings!” Congratulations and good luck, Taylor! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Savannah Sergent from Cumberland, KY. Savannah has accepted a position in a healthcare system back home. During her time at ETSU, Savannah was a graduate assistant in the department of art and design and a member of NSSLHA. Savannah’s favorite memory was “when a group of us went and stayed the weekend at the lake. We had transitioned classes to the online format and it was so fun to see my friends again and enjoy a weekend together!" Best of luck, Savannah! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Alexa Saravi from Knoxville, TN. Alexa has accepted a job at Fleming Therapy in Stafford, VA. During her time at ETSU, Alexa was a graduate assistant for Dr. Louw and Dr. Guntupalli, a member of NSSLHA, a part of the IPE program and Appalachian Professional Network on Dysphagia. She also conducted research on the Associations between Orofacial Clefting and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome in North East Tennessee. Alexa’s favorite memory was “Taking a trip to Florida with Becca, Payton, Ashley, Maddie, and Michaela. It was full of laughter, karaoke, and dancing! We still talk about how fun this was to this day! So thankful for my lifelong friends!” Way to go, Alexa! 🎓

Today’s graduate spotlight is Olivia Reath from Burnsville, NC. Olivia plans to work with both the pediatric and adult populations. During her time at ETSU, Olivia was the Vice president of NSSLHA, did research with Dr. Louw, and had a tuition scholarship in the psychology department. Olivia’s favorite memory was “The time a professor called me sassy. I took it as a compliment!” Good luck and congratulations, Olivia! 🎓
