Time for Musician Monday
Elizabeth "Libba" Cotten (January 5, 1893 – June 29, 1987)[was an American folk and blues musician. She was a self-taught left-handed guitarist who played a guitar strung for a right-handed player, but played it upside down.[4] This position meant that she would play the bass lines with her fingers and the melody with her thumb. Her signature alternating bass style has become known as "Cotten picking".[5]
The term “Vestapol” tuning comes from her by the way she played the guitar.

Coming from Dalton Georgia , Les Blackwell refers to himself as "just a bum"
but I think if you take the time to listen you'll find Les is more than just that.
We are thrilled to have Les play on the steps here at the Loretta Lynn ranch playing his own version of Folsom prison blues and keeping country music a live and humble.
according to locals Loretta Lynn use to come to these steps to pick some bluegrass and get away from the high demands of stardom. we are happy to keep the tradition alive.
