Today, the Elizabethton FFA took our final chapter trip of the school year to Grandfather Mountain — and what a perfect way to close out the year together.

Grandfather Mountain is one of the most unique ecosystems in the Southeast, home to rugged peaks, diverse wildlife, rare plant species, and weather conditions that can feel more like New England than North Carolina. From hardwood forests to spruce-fir habitats usually found much farther north, it truly is a one-of-a-kind place that reminds us just how incredible our world is!

For our seniors, this was their final trip with the Ag Department. Over the years, these students have represented Elizabethton FFA well through competitions, greenhouse work, community service, leadership events, and countless memories together. While this trip marked the end of a chapter, we know great things are ahead for each of them.

Thank you, seniors, for the impact you’ve made on our chapter. Once an FFA member, always an FFA member. 💙💛

Elizabethton FFA members took an adventure to Bays Mountain Park today 🌿🐺🚤🌎

Students explored wildlife and animal habitats, enjoyed a beautiful barge ride across the nearly 50-acre lake, and relaxed with a special program in the planetarium.

It was a great day filled with fun, learning, and making memories together as summer break gets closer! ☀️💙💛

Today, the Elizabethton Agriculture and Biology Departments spent the day in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park working alongside biologists researching salamanders and lichen!

Did you know the GSMNP is home to the largest and most diverse population of salamanders anywhere in the world?

These incredible species serve as important indicators of environmental health, helping scientists monitor the impacts of pollutants in our water and air.

Our students had an amazing opportunity to participate in real-world scientific research while exploring one of the most beautiful places in our region.

Mrs. Phillips’ Small Animal Science class, along with other EHS Ag students, had the opportunity to explore Bright’s Zoo today! 🐾🌿

We learned about a wide variety of exotic animals—so many favorites to choose from! But the one who really took the carrot… 🥕 was the reticulated giraffe 🦒

Elizabethton FFA had an outstanding showing today at the Regional Envirothon, placing 2nd and 4th overall!

The Envirothon is a hands-on environmental and natural resources competition where students work in teams to solve real-world problems.

Teams rotate through five stations—Wildlife, Forestry, Soils, Aquatics, and a Current Issues topic—demonstrating their knowledge of conservation, ecosystems, and land management.

Both of our teams competed at a high level, with one team finishing just behind the top spot and the other right in the mix—an impressive accomplishment against strong competition.

We’re proud of how our students represented Elizabethton FFA today. Great work!

Mr. Agan’s Agriscience students got some real-world, hands-on experience today with a lesson in tractor operation while helping spread gravel for our upcoming equipment building!

Our B-Series Kubota proved to be the perfect fit for beginner operators—just the right size for learning the basics while safely working around campus.

Proud of these students for stepping up, learning new skills, and taking ownership in improving our program! 🚜💪
