Check out this feature story from CBS Colorado about our ongoing partnership with Arapahoe Community College and the Concurrent Enrollment or CE courses that are offered at Elizabeth High School.

EHS Seniors Brooke Burris and Bailey Barnhart were interviewed about how they are using the CE courses to give them a jumpstart on college credits.

Recent EHS graduate Lacy Antinora was also featured in the story who will be attending KU in the Fall.

We're proud to offer these opportunities to our students, which allow for significant savings for families when it comes to college tuition!

At Elizabeth High School, there is a program that hopes to give more kids a leg up on college through a partnership with Arapahoe Community College.

Spotlight on Elizabeth!

The EHS gym was LOUD this morning and for good reason. The EHS Cardinals Football team was featured on CBS Colorado morning shows and our team, cheerleaders & band members made sure to show viewers all over Colorado what our community is all about.

The CBS team isn't done either. Another TV crew will be here all afternoon to showcase our Cardinals ahead of tonight's 7 p.m. home game against Florence. As we've shared with you, we are so fortunate to have this game featured as the CBS Colorado Football Game of the Week.

Be sure to watch CBS Colorado for full coverage of all the EHS action at 4, 5, and 6 p.m. During the 10 p.m. newscast this evening, you will see highlights featured from the game.

We hope to see a packed stadium tonight!

We invite our community to attend a "Back to School Town Hall with Ted" on Monday, August 24th at 6 p.m. in the EHS Cafetorium. This is an open Q&A session with ESD Superintendent Dr. Ted Knight. We will talk about the year ahead, share some exciting things happening across our district and address any questions or concerns that you may have.

At our last town hall over the Summer we had some great questions from attendees and we're looking forward to another session.

We'll see you Monday at 6 p.m.!

Put to the test!

Brody Aldridge is a Senior at EHS and plays Wide Receiver for the EHS Cardinals football team. Check out this fun segment where Brody talks about how the team has been getting ready for this season and the big game tomorrow night against Florence. His skills were also put to the test here with some deep throws and an ultimate challenge of catching a ball being tossed from the top of EHS Stadium!

Brody and his fellow Cardinals are kicking off a new season following last year's standout year which culminated in a playoff run and a shot at the State Championship.

Tomorrow's home opener is also being featured as the CBS Colorado Football Game of The Week! The game, our school and our community will be featured on CBS Colorado all evening, including highlights after the game.

Best of luck to Brody and our EHS Cardinals and we hope to see you at EHS Stadium tomorrow night!

Back to the basics.

In a high-tech and fast paced world, there IS such a thing as too much electronics and not enough human interaction. That's why, at our elementary schools, you won't see any technology in grades Kindergarten through second grade. We want our students at that age to develop real relationships with classmates, learn the basics without distraction and just have fun being a kid!

That's not to say as a school district that we reject tech. Quite the opposite. It's a reasonable integration at grade levels 3-5 with increased use heading into middle and high school.

Check out this video feature of what one of our K-1 classrooms at Running Creek Elementary looks like each day and just how much fun our kids have doing the basics.

Is this something you've been search for as a parent? We invite you to enroll with us today!

Looking to enroll?

It's a great time to join us at Elizabeth School District!

- Class sizes that focus on the individual student and curriculum that prepares them for today's world
- Top performing athletics programs (last year the EHS football team made it to the State Championship!)
- Career & Technical Education, Business & Automotive programs (a brand new auto shop building with classes happening right now where students work on cars, motors and more!)
- Individualized support & strong community partnership

Also, we're a school district that prides itself in traditional values and upbringing. Our K-2 classrooms have zero tech, because we want our kiddos to socialize, build real relationships and learn the basics without tech overload anxiety. Our grades 3-5 have limited tech in the classroom for that same reason, but it is reasonably used to prepare them for upper grade levels. At those upper grade levels, students use tech at the appropriate level to prepare them for college and career fields.

A new chapter begins!

Over the weekend we celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony for Independence Classical Academy. A lot of hard work has gone into the launch of ICA and we would like to congratulate the staff, board and all who were involved in getting to this milestone.

Here's some information about ICA which you will see in this week's ESD Hometown Herald newsletter:

"IT’S NOT TOO LATE! One great school. Two great options.
1) Five Days a Week
• Small class sizes
• Students learn how to think for themselves
• Trained to recognize truth, beauty, and goodness
• Goal: wise, capable adults — not just successful students on paper

2) One-Day-a-Week Homeschool Enrichment (Tuesdays)
• Classical literature & poetry
• Presentation & public speaking
• Nature study & hands-on science
• Friendship, community & Socratic discussion Ready to learn more or enroll?"

Ready for a new adventure!

It's always special when we get to experience a back to school day at our elementary schools. Lots of smiles, lots of excitement and a few tears here and there when saying bye to Mom and Dad, but any brief sadness was quickly replaced with being comforted by staff, making new friends, talking about what they did over the Summer and working on fun assignments.

At both Singing Hills Elementary and Running Creek Elementary, the morning kicked off with more of a celebration type of atmosphere. The bubble machines were going, music was playing and proud parents were busy taking pictures of their kids outside.

Singing Hills had a "Family Connect" theme, with the intention of getting new parents to mingle with returning parents and having some social time over coffee and doughnuts once students were led to their classrooms.

At both schools, students got to know their teachers, classmates, took tours of the places they would be frequenting, learned the basic rules and started to work on some lessons.

Parents...don't be surprised if the kids come home beaming with lots of fun stories to share. That's our goal each day and it brings us such joy to see. Welcome to elementary school!

Attention ESD community!

Let's pack the stands this Friday night! Your EHS Cardinal football team is taking on Florence at EHS Stadium this Friday, August 21st at 7 p.m.

Here's the kicker....

Our first home football game of the year just also happens to be the CBS Colorado Football Game of The Week! That means, our community and the big game will be showcased LIVE on CBS Denver during the 4, 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts. They will also feature game highlights and post-game reactions during the 10 p.m. newscast. Friday morning, they will be at our school doing a LIVE prep rally during the 9 a.m. newscast.

What does that mean for you? Show up at the game, cheer on our Cardinals and show Colorado how we support our team! Also this Friday is Staff Appreciation, where we will recognize our awesome and hard-working ESD staff from all departments and schools during halftime.

Our second home game is Thursday, August 27th for Military Appreciation Night. Catalina's is donating a free dinner to any veteran or active duty military before the game. Any interested military members can contact EHS Assistant Principal/Athletic Director John Everhart to get signed up.

John Everhart email: [email protected]

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you pack the stands this Friday night.
