What an incredible start to ICA’s inaugural year! 🦅🎉

From cutting the ribbon on our new school to welcoming our very first scholars through the doors, these first few weeks at Independence Classical Academy have been filled with exciting milestones.

📚 Our classrooms are officially alive with learning as our scholars and teachers begin building the traditions that will shape ICA for years to come. Through classical education, our scholars are developing a love of learning, growing in character, and experiencing the joy of discovering something new each day.

🏃‍♀️🎨 The excitement has extended beyond our classrooms, too! ICA scholars, families, and staff recently joined the Elizabeth community for the Historic Main Street 5K & Family Color Run, participating in the festivities and representing ICA at our community booth.

🏡 Our Homeschool Enrichment Program is also off to a great start, giving homeschool scholars another opportunity to learn, create, explore, and build friendships as part of the ICA community.

❤️ We are so grateful to our families, teachers, staff, and the Elizabeth community for helping make this historic beginning possible.

Our first year is underway, and we’re just getting started. Go Falcons! 🦅

Homeschool families, we’d love your input!

We’re exploring the possibility of offering an optional second day at ICA for our homeschool families.

This would not be another full day of enrichment programming. Instead, it would give students additional time with our teachers for tutoring, academic support, guided learning, and extra help where they need it.

Would this be something your family would use?

Nothing has been decided yet, we’re simply gauging interest. Let us know in the comments or send us a message!

Sunday afternoon, the street and adjacent parking lot at 589 S. Banner Street filled up with people who didn't have to be there.

Families from Legacy Academy Homeschool Enrichment Program. Families, staff, and Board Members from Independence Classical Academy. Families, dedicated staff, and School Board members from Elizabeth School District. Neighbors who just wanted to help. All of them showed up with gloves and rakes and the kind of energy you can't fake.

We pulled weeds. We raked and bagged what felt like every pinecone in Elizabeth. We tore out old landscaping, laid down what may in fact be a bazillion bags of mulch, painted, and swept away enough rocks to build a second building. By the time the sun started dropping, the place looked like it meant something. Because it does. And it deserves to.

A few people made this happen who deserve more than a thank you, but a thank you is where we'll start.

Kellie Cleveland organized the entire afternoon. Every detail, every moving piece, every family in the right place with the right tools. That kind of quiet competence is rare, and we appreciate every ounce of it.

Ted and Amanda Knight made sure we had what we needed to actually GET THE WORK DONE (and it was a LOT of work). The donations they procured turned a good idea into a real one.

And to every single family, teacher, and community member who traded a Sunday afternoon for a rake and a trash bag — thank you. You didn't just clean up a building. You told our Falcon Families something true before they ever walked through the door: this is a place to be proud of and that people care for.

We are so ready.

First day of school. Let's go!

Our teachers spent last week walking the halls of Liberty Common School, watching a Classical education fully alive in the hands of people who've been doing it right for a long time. The next day, Casey Churchill sat down with our team and walked them through the Core Knowledge Sequence, piece by piece, until every teacher in that room knew exactly what they'd be teaching and why it mattered before a single student ever walked through our doors.

Learning from the best to be the best.

That's not a slogan for us. It's what our teachers did, and it's what our kids will feel the difference of come day one.

A heartfelt thank you to Liberty Common School for opening your doors and your playbook to us, to Bob Schaffer for believing in this work from the very beginning, and to Casey Churchill for giving our teachers two full days of his time and expertise, with promises of more to come. Independence Classical Academy is standing on the shoulders of people who built something worth learning from.

Go Falcons!

Colorado’s homeschool enrichment landscape is changing. ICA is ready.

CBS Colorado reported this week that families across the state are facing uncertainty as new requirements for publicly funded homeschool enrichment programs take effect. Some programs are still waiting for approval, leaving parents wondering what options will actually be available for their children this school year.

At Independence Classical Academy, families don’t have to wonder.

ICA’s Homeschool Enrichment Program is a legitimate, publicly funded homeschool enrichment program offered through our public charter school and authorized by the Elizabeth School District.

That means our program is publicly accountable, locally authorized, and designed to provide homeschool families with a meaningful educational partnership.

✅ One day per week
✅ Tuition-free for families
✅ Publicly funded and accountable
✅ Authorized through Elizabeth School District
✅ Classical education in a welcoming community
✅ Parents remain at the center of their child’s homeschool education

If you’ve been considering homeschool enrichment, or if you’re currently enrolled in a program whose future has become uncertain - now is the time to take a look at ICA.

Give your children one day each week to learn alongside other students, build friendships, experience rich classical instruction, and become part of the ICA community - all while continuing the homeschool education you’ve chosen for your family.

Enrollment is open now, and space is limited.

Don’t wait until fall to find out whether your current option will still be there.

Secure your child’s place in ICA’s Homeschool Enrichment Program today.
