Wirt County FFA is officially WV Grown! 🌻🌱

We are proud to be a member of the West Virginia Department of Agriculture’s WV Grown program, celebrating the locally grown, locally made, and agricultural products that make West Virginia special!

We believe agricultural education goes far beyond the classroom. Our students and members get hands-on opportunities to grow, create, develop skills, and turn their ideas into real products!

🌸 The The Blooming Tiger SWP puts student creativity and floral design skills to work, creating arrangements and bouquets while giving students real-world experience in running a floral business.

🧑‍🍳 Our Food Science class explores the journey from farm to table, learning about food production, preparation, the science and importance of agriculture in the foods we enjoy every day.

🌿 And that’s not all… From plants, horticulture projects to student-made products and other hands-on agricultural experiences, our students and members are learning to turn agricultural knowledge into something tangible, useful, and marketable.

Our WV Grown membership is another opportunity to highlight the talent, hard work, and creativity happening right here in Wirt County. We are proud to be a part of a program that supports West Virginia agriculture while helping the next generation of agriculturalists, entrepreneurs, and community leaders grow.

Orders are due: November 12

Payment: Due at time of delivery (cash or check)

Fresh basil + fresh mozzarella + tomatoes = a pretty successful Food Science lab! 🌿🍅🧀

Today, Food Science students put their freshly harvested basil to good use by making Caprese Sandwiches! They got hands-on experience preparing a simple, fresh recipe and discovered that mozzarella actually comes in forms other than shredded!

The sandwiches were a hit + we’d say the freshly harvested basil made them even better!

🦠🔎 Plant Disease Escape Room!

A test doesn’t always have to mean a paper, a pencil, and a whole lot of stress. Sometimes it looks like teamwork, problem-solving, student-made resources, and a time limit. ⏱️

Ag 2 students are putting their plant disease knowledge to the test through escape rooms, working together to solve clues, use what they’ve learned, and making their way through each challenge.

Who says assessment can’t be fun? 🌱🔐

There are still quite a few of you who have not completed your 26/27 FFA Enrollment. The deadline was October 1, enrollment will remain active through Friday, October 9.

Please complete the enrollment EXACTLY how it asks. This is what I submit to the State Association and National Organization for membership.

Please keep in mind, you must be enrolled in ag class for a minimum of 3 years to maintain membership.

No enrollment, no livestock projects through Wirt County FFA.

We’ve been putting those garden beds to work! 🌱

The Food Science students spent some time harvesting and processing herbs grown right here behind the school. The Horticulture class also jumped in to help with processing, making this a great little collaboration between our ag classes!

Today’s ag room fragrance lineup: Cilantro, Dill, Sage, and Peppermint!
