A Seat at the Table. A Voice to Use It.

Four ECSU Vikings recently stepped into a statewide conversation about civic engagement, leadership and the power of young voices at the 12th Annual North Carolina Black Alliance Think Tank.

Representing ECSU, Jaharah Yahaya, Janiah Owens, Malachi Bass and Nyla Phillips connected with students and community leaders from across North Carolina, explored the legacy of HBCU leadership and civil rights organizing, and learned how to turn their influence into meaningful action.

✈️ Aviation was in the air at ECSU!

Our Aviation Science Open House at the Elizabeth City Regional Airport welcomed our newest Vikings and members of the community for an up-close look at our aviation facilities and fleet.

Guests heard from Chancellor S. Keith Hargrove, Sr. and aviation trailblazer Captain Theresa Claiborne, the first African American female pilot to serve in the U.S. Air Force. Her story of courage, leadership and breaking barriers was an inspiring reminder of what’s possible when you’re willing to soar.

From the classroom to the cockpit, ECSU is preparing the next generation of aviation leaders. 🛩️💙
